Katherine Jean Reno, 98, passed away on February 13, 2026. Born in 1928, she was the beloved daughter of the late Floyd and Vera (Hewitt) Custer. She was the devoted wife of the late Eugene Sheffield Reno. She was the loving mother of Debra Tybinka (John), the late J. Reno (Suzanne), and Jodi Lovell (Mark) She was a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was also the beloved sister to the late Vivian Kelly (Paul).
Katherine began working for Michigan Bell as a switchboard operator where she worked until Debra was born. After raising her children she worked as a dental receptionist, then through the State of Michigan as a receptionist and an information operator until her retirement. Following retirement, she and her husband moved to the mountains of North Carolina where they resided until her husband’s death. She then returned to her home state of Michigan to be closer to family and friends.
Katherine will be most remembered as a beautiful woman who valued her family and her home. Her favorite thing to do was to enjoy a meal with others.
A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
