Kathie was kind and generous, always looking out for others, and she had a great sense of humor to brighten everyone’s day. She was passionate about art and produced many beautiful watercolor paintings over the years. Kathie loved to paint natural settings with lakes, forests, and gardens, and she also liked floral still life. She participated in local art shows, and her work was displayed at the East Lansing Public Library and the Turner Dodge House in Lansing. She also loved making jewelry for family and friends.
Kathie loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and spending time with her many dogs over the years – Keno, Sheba, Susie, Peanut, Petey and Spotty. As she walked the dogs, she got to know her neighbors well, especially the little kids who would run out to greet them and bring dog treats.
Kathie retired from Michigan State University in 2014 after 36 years of working for the university in various roles. At the time of her retirement, she was Fiscal Officer at Lyman Briggs College. In 2012, Kathie received the Jack Breslin Distinguished Staff Award for this work, and her coworkers commented on how she was integral to the functioning of the college.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rick (2020). She is survived by her sister, Karen, also of Williamston.
