

Preceding Kaye in death were his parents, younger sister, Laura Sue "Susie" Dansby, and grandson Hunter Charles Butcher. Surviving Kaye are his loving wife of 38 years, Marilyn Schneider Douglas; his children Dave (Brenda) Douglas, Karen (Larry) Wright, Andrea Nims, Earnest (Robin) Nims, Melissa (Martin) Nims-Chilvers; grandchildren Meghan (Donald) Pearce, Chelsea "Charlie" Douglas, Jacob Douglas, Taylor Wright, Anthony (Chloe) Wright, Olivia Nims, Harry Chilvers, Rocco Chilvers, Benjamin Butcher and Michael (Hollie) Takovich; great-grandchildren Elliott Meter, Donald "Troy" and Finley Pearce, Jameson Wright, Kentley, Kayden, Kash and Kora Takovich; brothers Don (Lorna) Douglas, Keith (Judy) Douglas, Warren (Ida) Douglas and brother-in-law Bruce Dansby; and several nieces and nephews.
Kaye served in the Michigan Army National Guard SP4E4 Artillery division as a Wireman and Qualified Expert 310 Carbine Cal .30 M1 Marksman. After graduation from Dansville High School, Kaye bought his first canned milk route, later becoming a Class A bulk route. Kaye purchased his farm in Williamston and for over 50 years crop farmed corn, wheat, and soybeans. Purchasing a semi to haul his grain to the elevators, Kaye began hauling for other farmers as well.
Kaye retired in 2011 celebrating both retirement and his 25th wedding anniversary by hosting his infamous barn dance and pig roast. Among his other activities Kaye enjoyed playing men's fast pitch softball, coaching recreational baseball/softball for the kids, volleyball, bowling, golf, hunting, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, camping, whitewater rafting, canoe/kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, cards, dancing and travel. Kaye, also known as "One of the Douglas twins," enjoyed school sports (baseball, football, basketball, and track). Kaye had quite a competitive nature, always trying to be number one. Kaye was an all out Ford man, whether it be a truck, tractor, or car.
One of Kaye's special moments was being baptized in the Jordan River in Israel the spring of 2023. He was a devout Christian attending Vantown Community Church for most of his life.
Kaye was an amazing husband, father, stepfather, grandpa, and great-grandpa. Kaye was a loving, kind, devoted family man that loved his family deeply. He was a mentor, instructor, and taught by example.

A Celebration of Life for Kaye will be held at Vantown Community Church on Saturday, January 11th. The family will begin receiving guests at 11:00am. The service will begin at 12:00pm with a luncheon at the church to follow.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing can donate to the "Memorial Bench" fund through the Independent Bank in honor of Kaye.
