

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Kirby Michael Wright, 72. Kirby passed away peacefully after a long illness on January 18, 2026, at the Veteran’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born on March 9, 1953, in Lansing, Michigan to Kirby Merrill and Delores Mae (McManus) Wright. He was a resident of Fowlerville, Michigan for the last 22 years and grew up in Shaftsburg, Michigan. He attended Perry Schools. Kirby proudly served in the United States Army from April 1, 1970, to June 18, 1971. Kirby worked as a master plumber for many years with D&M plumbing in Waterford, Michigan.
Known for his love of hunting, he loved nothing more than sitting in the quiet outdoors hunting and fishing. Kirby had many friends and was a friend to many. He was a long-time member of the Amvets Post #4064 for 55 years and a regular visitor to the VFW Post in Perry, Michigan; where he enjoyed camaraderie with fellow veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; his daughter, Cassandra; granddaughter, Jordyn Powell, and her father, Cody Powell; grandson, Landon Eddy and his father, Chad Eddy; brothers, Randy (Sandy) Welch, William Welch, Jeffrey Wright, Steven Wright; sister, Mishell Wright. Also, Cathy’s children, Ryan Durie and Grace Morlock. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Corey Mishelle Wright; and nephew, Demetrius Merrill Wright.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Funeral services will be held on January 31, 2026, at Gorsline Runciman Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle St. Williamston, MI 48895, 1:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place in Lake City Cemetery in Lake City, Michigan at a later date.
