Maria was born January 6, 1925 in Mtyniska, Poland and arrived in Canada with dad, Eljasz (Alex) Stojanowski, mom, Josya (Josephine) Pejs, brother, Michal and brother, Kornel on April 11, 1930. Her sisters Jean and Bernice were born on the farm in Wildwood, Alberta, Canada. After clearing the land and building a house and barn, they raised cows, pigs, chickens, grew wheat, barley, oats and canola along with the garden. Kornel and his wife Helen continued to farm with their son Ron. Mary moved to Edmonton with a friend and was working at a restaurant. Stanley Wasserman, also born in Poland was serving in the US Army and was stationed near Edmonton. He met this pretty girl at the restaurant and she left with him when he was reassigned to Topeka, Kansas after the war. They got married and moved to Cass City, Michigan where his family lived. When Stanley died from an auto accident in 1950, she moved to Beecher District with Ed, Gene, Jerry and Doreen. After the tornado in 1953, they moved to Flint and later to Swartz Creek. There, she retired from AC, a Division of General Motors after 36 years.
She was a survivor and an incredible mom who gave her children the best she could. They are all successful and raising incredible families with the values she inspired in them.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers-in-law Jack Finlan and Tom Watt (Bernice), brother Kornel, sister Jean Goving (Cecil), and sister-in-law Mary (Michal).
