Matthew Thomas Denike “Matt”, age 51, passed away after fighting a tough battle with Stage IV Lung Cancer, on June 14, 2022 in Ovid, MI.
Matthew was born on November 8, 1970 in Grand Rapids, MI to Rochelle Denike and Berton (Peggy) Denike. Matthew grew up in Williamston, MI, where he found his high school sweetheart, Tina Denike (Schnell), and finally married her on December 31, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Matt took a leap and decided to start his future in Nashville, TN where he had a successful concrete and excavation business for 15 years. With a lot of dedication and hard work, Matthew was able to care for his family and adventure off to enjoy the things he loved including: four wheeling, snowmobiling, camping, and volunteering for the Almaville Fire Department. He moved back to MI in 2009 where he was employed by DC Byers and joined Local 514 until he was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2021.
