

Norma Miller Kolasa, age 91, died peacefully on August 21, 2026. Norma was born in Ruth, Michigan to Thomas and Theresa, nee Smielewski, Miller. Beloved wife of the late Frank for 59 years; loving mother of Ann (James) Zastrow, Beth (Greg) Glover, Martha (Robert) Sabourin and Steve Kolasa. Amazing grandmother to Tia (Tori) Kolasa, Allie Kolasa, Dmitri Glover, Sasha (Jordan) Glover, Emma Zastrow and Jade Sabourin; delighted great-grandmother of Amelia, Addison, Zaiden and Evan. A graduate of Madonna College and Michigan State University, Norma began her teaching career in Saginaw and retired after 23 years in the Webberville school system. Norma believed deeply in the power of education to change lives and never stopped rooting for her students and taking pride in their achievements. Norma was compassionate, supportive, and curious; she enjoyed watercolor painting, golf, travel, reading, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. A member of St Mary parish for 60 years, she was committed to her faith and was an active volunteer in her community. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings Arthur (the late Adelle) Miller and Doris (the late Robert) Lefler and sister-in-law Sr. Roberta Kolasa, SJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 25 at 11am at St Mary Catholic Church, 157 High Street, Williamston with visitation from 10 am until time of service. Interment Mt Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Norma Miller Kolasa Scholarship for First Generation Students at the College of Lake County (indicate scholarship name in notes field) or the St Vincent DePaul Fund at St Mary would be appreciated.
