Born on January 5, 1951, Paul’s roots in Williamston were deep; he even built his life in the house right next to his childhood home. After graduating from Williamston High School in 1969 and earning a degree from Lansing Community College, he began a distinguished career as a distributor sales rep that would span over 50 years. Even in retirement, his work ethic shone through, as he “mostly” retired in 2019 but continued to manage key accounts until just a few months before his passing. It was at his first job with George Worthington Co. that he met the love of his life, Donna. Their meeting sparked a 51-year marriage filled with love and partnership.
Paul was the definition of a "Girl Dad," raising three wonderful daughters, Amy, Lori, and Sarah. But of all his titles, he took the most pride in being "Papa" to his granddaughter, Addison. His commitment to his family was mirrored in his service to the community. For 30 years, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Williamston Fire Department and was well-known for helping coordinate the Christmas tree lot every December.
A dedicated supporter of basketball, he was instrumental in youth sports, running the Red Cedar Rec Youth Basketball program, helping form and coach the Jr. Lady Hornets, and serving as a scorekeeper for the Williamston Lady Hornets high school teams for many years.
His passions for local history and firefighting merged through his involvement as a founding member of the Mid-Michigan Antique Fire Apparatus Association and as a past president of the R.E. Olds Museum. In retirement, he joined the board of the Williamston Depot Museum and was researching the history of the fire department until his health declined. A highlight of each summer was seeing Paul proudly drive his own antique firetruck in the Williamston Jubilee parade. Paul’s steady presence and dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; his daughters, Amy Enfield, Lori Enfield, and Sarah (Tony) Cronk; his cherished granddaughter, Addison Cronk; his brother, Thomas (Patty) Enfield; sister-in-law, Pat (Alan) Sevrey; and mother-in-law, Mary Lou Tillitson, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marilyn Enfield, and his sister, Mary Kay Stephens.
A service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at the Williamston United Methodist Church (211 S. Putnam St.) on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with the service following at 11:00 AM. All are welcome to join the family for a luncheon at the church immediately after the service. Following the luncheon, a private family gathering for the inurnment will be held at Summit Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to the Williamston United Methodist Church Restoration Fund (211 S. Putnam St., Williamston, MI 48895) or the Williamston Depot Museum (P.O. Box 234, Williamston, MI 48895). Please find links below.
