Ray Lance passed away on Sunday February 12, 2012 peacefully in his home in Williamston MI. Ray was born November 3, 1939 to Mark and Almeda Lance. Ray served his country in the United States Army Reserves from 1957-1966. On September 5, 1959 he married his high school sweetheart JoAnn (Reynolds). Ray retired after 35 years from General Motors where he enjoyed many of those as a test driver in Milford, MI.
Ray is survived by his wife of 52 years JoAnn; daughters Lori Ecker (Tom), Kerri (Kerry) Minshall, Shelly Braman (Jim); grandchildren Benjamin (Sarah) Minshall, Justin Braman (Jess), Angela (Vaughn) Vandecar, Eric (Curestin) Braman, Aaron Braman, Katie Bruce; “Big Grandpa’s” pride and joy, great grandchildren Kendall Braman, Vaughn H. Vandecar; brothers Donald (Linda) Lance, Mark A. Lance Jr. and many loving family, friends and his loyal little dog Emmielou, who stayed by his side throughout his journey. Ray was preceded in death by both of his parents and brother Robert L. Lance.
Ray loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed summers at the lake, motorcycles, classic cars, a good cup of coffee and country music. He will be remembered for his quick witted humor, endless jokes and his genuine hugs and kisses. The family is grateful to the staff of Great Lakes Hospice for their support and kind care over the past few months.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday February 19, 2012 at 1:00 at Mason City Hall, 201 W. Ash Street, Mason, MI. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Great Lakes Hospice or The Parkinson’s Foundation.
