He was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 4, 1958 to parents, Robert and Anna Shingledecker.
Rodger will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His greatest accomplishment is his son, Rodger, and daughter, Lindsey. He supported them through school and sports activities while remaining their mentor and guide through their adulthood.
People were drawn to Rodger as he always made life fun and could easily make people laugh. He was our fix-it-man and was always there to lend a hand along with a healthy dose of humor and love.
Rodger was an ace on third base playing in adult recreational leagues. Growing up to love hunting, he was also a great addition to the Upper Peninsula Hunting Group, where he earned the nickname, "Grizz".
He lived his life with passion and enthusiasm. He could make you laugh and then be there in your time of need. He worried about the people in his orbit and was always invested in the people he loved. He never shirked a task and could always be counted on. Rodger was a treasure who made life brighter for all who knew him.
There will be a celebration of Rodger's life at the end of September - more details from the family to come in the near future.
Memorial contributions in Rodger's memory may be made to All Americans Hospice, 1397 S Linden Rd., Ste. D, Flint, MI 48532 and the Melanoma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 719329, Philadelphia, PA 19171-9329.
