Susan D. Trimmer
May 25, 1959 – October 28, 2012
Susan Diane Trimmer (Fisher) Haslett
Susan Diane Trimmer (Fisher), 53, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2012. The daughter of Albert and the late Renate Hermsen, Susie was born on May 25, 1959. She grew up in Okemos, MI, and then lived in Williamston, MI for twenty years. She recently settled in Haslett, MI with her husband Tim, whom she married in 2010. A graduate of MSU, she was a lifelong Spartan fan. She went on to earn her MBA from Spring Arbor University in 2010. Sue was an outstanding professional woman, raising money for student scholarships and college improvements as Foundation Director at Lansing Community College and Director of Development at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. Sue was an extremely creative and passionate person; excelling at gardening, scrap booking, photography, and quilting. She enjoyed staying active outside with her husband -walking daily, golfing, kayaking rivers and lakes in Michigan, and traveling. Outside of work, Sue lived for her family and friends. An extremely dedicated and loving mother, Sue was best friends with her two daughters over the years. She was also an outstanding friend to many. It is clear that she touched many lives by the outpour of love and support that she and the family received during the last year of her illness. Sue leaves behind to cherish and celebrate her life, her father, Albert Hermsen, husband, Tim Trimmer, two daughters: Michelle (Jordan) Allen and Sara Fisher, their father, Dave Fisher, two sisters: Carol Hermsen and Nancy Halliday, and two brothers: Albert Hermsen and Terry Hermsen. A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, October 31 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 4515 Dobie Road, Okemos, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation will also take place Tuesday, October 30 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle St., Williamston, MI from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. I am so thankful for the impact Sue had on my life. It was in 2010 when she brought a project (to this day I cant remember what it was) to my class while finishing up my first associates. I was only interested in helping, but eventually Sue inspired me to lead the project. It was the first time I had done anything like that. The project ended up getting cancelled but it was a mere stepping stone into my future in leadership. It was because of Susan's opportunity that I pursed many leadership opportunities at LCC. Opportunities if it had not been for Susan's belief in me. She was a great individual who I only knew for a short period of time. I was extremely shocked when I heard she had passed recently. I only wished I could have heard of this sooner. So that I may have attended her celebration with friends and family. Susan was and still is my inspiration to help lead others and educate future leaders. I just want to say thank you again to Susan's family for their loved ones contribution to my life.

Sue and I worked together for many years on the LCC Foundation. She was eternally energetic, positive, and devoted to raising funds to benefit students in need. I'm so saddened by her passing at such a young age. She still had a lot to contribute. Many thoughts and prayers are with you.

It is with sadness that I offer condolences to the Fisher - Trimmer family. Sue was very instrumental in helping me launch the LAFCU/LCC external scholarship program; she was always thrilled to be on the review panel and a joy to work with. Sue was a great person with passion for her job, she will be missed.

Tim and Family
It is with much saddness that I write this post. I found Sue to be so REAL. She knew the Truth and the Truth set her free! She lived her life in authenticity. She was never willing to 'fudge'; rather she did ALL things with excellence. I will never forget the last conversation that I had with Sue before she moved to PA. She trusted Jehovah Jirah to direct her paths; and He did!

Like many others, I met Sue through her work at LCC but we became natural friends outside of our work. She was so easy to love: kind, caring, smart, intuitive, driven for success in her work. We shared life paths....kids about the same age, similar career paths, friends in common, and even some of the same personal challenges. I was so happy for her when she met and married Tim and then when she got the great job in Pennsylvania. We've all lost a sister and fellow traveler. Too soon, too tragically. Sue, you lived well and we will remember you always.

I met Sue through Lansing Community College. She organized a caregivers group that I joined and she was a leader in LCC's chapter of ACE. I will miss her warm personality and great outlook on life. I want her family to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May your great memories sustain you.

I came to know Sue through our work on the Bill Petry Scholarship at LCC. We were instantly friends because she was such a warm, enthusiastic, caring person. The last time we spoke she was on her way to her new job in PA and she was so excited. I am deeply shocked and saddened that we have lost her. I will never forget Sue because it is rare to meet and be befriended by someone with her genuine warmth and commitment to others. My very sincere condolences to Tim and her daughters whom she loved and treasured above all others.

I am So Sorry to hear of your Loss, Sue was very very instrumental setting up the Endowment Scholarship Fund for my Father 6 years ago. We couldn't have done it without her great communications and follow up. She was PERFECT for her position at LCC. What a Sweetheart. I use to look forward to seeing Her and Tim at MSU hockey games. She sure will be missed by ALL who knew her and/or had the privilege and honor to have her in their lives... God Bless You All, now and forever more.

I am so saddened to learn of Sue's death. We grew up together in Okemos. Although I lost touch with Sue after high school, the adventures we had together with our moms in Girl Scouts are some of my happiest childhood memories. I will always remember Sue with great fondness. May she rest now in peace. My deepest condolences to you all.

I was just thinking of you a few days ago when I put on my hand-blown bead bracelet and remembered that we were both drooling over them at the LCC Foundation Silent Auction and BOTH ended up getting them! I'm glad you had it's twin. Thinking of you, knowing that you're looking over your family and friends during their time of sorrow.

We were truly saddened to learn of Sue's death. She was such a vibrant, caring and generous person. She was like a second mother to our daughter, Emily, when the girls were growing up in Williamston. She was taken much to young, but may your memories sustain you in this time of loss.
