Virginia was born on April 21, 1922 the daughter of Sylvia and Walter Oesterle and passed away on January 19, 2018, at the age of 95. She grew up in the Webberville area with four siblings, Harris, Rodney, Wanda and Leland.
After graduating from Webberville High School, she taught for a year in a country school. That wasn’t to her liking so she began a career in banking that would last for many years. Virginia raised 3 children while working her way up from teller to become Vice President of Peoples State Bank in Williamston.
As a young woman, Virginia traveled to California to visit her brother Rodney when he was stationed at Fort Ord before going overseas during WWII. It was there she met her future husband Donald Wright who was a buddy of Rodney. The two corresponded and when Donald came home they were married on February 22, 1946.
Virginia was a life member of the Eastern Stars and American Legion and a member of Vantown Community Church. She enjoyed sewing, golf, playing cards, reading and working on jigsaw puzzles.
But the love for her family and genuine concern for others was what will live on in her memory.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Donald Wright; brothers, Harris, Rodney, Leland; and sister, Wanda.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Lynda (Rick) Campbell, Barbara (Steve) Harkness, Brian (Deborah) Wright; grandchildren, Jason (Michelle Fries) McCoy, Jeff (Jodie) Harkness and Elizabeth (Tyler) Park and great grandchildren, Lilly and Holly McCoy and Kai Fries, Sylvia and Calvin Park, William Harkness, Anna and Sophia Rose.
A Memorial service in memory of Virginia will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, at 11:00 a.m. at Vantown Community Church, 3504 E. Howell Rd., Webberville, MI 48892 with visitation one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vantown Community Church.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Williamston Chapel.
