William “Bill” “Bud” M. Ritz, age 64 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 due to complications from Covid-19. He was born May 20, 1956 in Lincoln Park, MI the son of Robert and Ann (Gentry) Ritz.
Bill always had a story to tell about when his family moved from the inner city Detroit area to Webberville. They moved in 1966 on his 10th birthday and he felt like he was reborn because he had never seen such blue skies and green grass. He was a graduate of Fowlerville High School with the Class of 1974. Bill always had two loves in his life, his family and his classic cars. He restored many classic cars over the years. Most importantly, Bill cherished his family and will be remembered as an incredible provider, caring supporter, loving father and devoted grandfather. Bill most recently was employed by One Way Asphalt Paving and Excavating in Williamston.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Joan Ritz; their blended family of 3 daughters, Melissa (Gene) Umnova, Jessica Ritz, and Tina (Brandon) Stevens, and 1 son, Edward (Jill) Whittenburg III; cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Bradley, Logan, Jaxson, Nolan, Ava, Alexander, Ryan, and "princess" Sophia; devoted mother, Ann Ritz; dear siblings, Bobby (Lucy) Ritz, Janet Davidowitz, Maryann Ritz, Tony (Lynn) Ritz, Richard (Peggy) Ritz, Michael Ritz, and Paul Ritz. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ritz, brother, Steve Ritz and his best friend, his dog, Abby.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home Williamston Chapel.
