Benjamin Franklin Moore, 80, died Wednesday January 25, 2012 at his home. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at Community Christian Church with Dale Minton officiating; burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr Moore was born in Martin County on December 25, 1931 son of the late Perlie and Beline Moore. He was retired from Belk as an assistant manager for more than 30 years. He was a United States Army Veteran where he served as a Chaplain’s Assistant and was a member of the Community Christian Church where he played the piano for many years, served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School, served as a deacon and an elder and was chairman of the Building Committee and other various committees. .He also served as Treasurer, clerk, and was a Trustee. He graduated from East Carolina University where he received his Masters Degree. He taught Math at Robersonville High School and Jamesville High School for several years.
Ben was preceded in death by brothers J. B. Moore, and James Moore and a sister Hazel Brown.
On December 20, 1952 he married Katherine Mobley Moore who survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are sons, Jeff Moore and wife Kathy of Chester, VA, Brent Moore and wife Linda, and Kent Moore both of Williamston, brother Earl Moore and wife Leah of Williamston, sisters Ruth Leggett and husband Bruce of Williamston, and Pattie Strawbridge of Louisburg, grandchildren Zack Moore, Jake Moore, and Josh Moore.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-8:30 PM at Community Christian Church and other times at the residence 4456 Poplar Point Road.
