Clifton M Matthews

Clifton M. Matthews, 83, died Sunday June 4, 2017 at Ridgewood Manor in Washington. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 PM at Gold Point Church of Christ with Chris Minton officiating; burial will follow at Martin Memorial Gardens.Mr Matthews was born in Martin County on November 13, 1933, son of the late Pleasant and Carrie Whitehurst Matthews. He had retired from farming and was a member of Gold Point Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mavis Fleming.On September 17, 1961 he married Lydia Barber Matthews who survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are daughters Kathy Roberson of Robersonville and Amy Sweers and husband Brien of Winterville, son Warren Matthews of Williamston, brother Edward Mathews and wife Edna Ruth of Bethel, grandchildren Will Roberson and wife Veronica of Robersonville, Martha Lynn Morgan and husband Preston of Simpson, Jessica Leonard and husband Mikenzie of Winterville, Marie Sweers of Winterville, Grace Sweers of Winterville, Clif Matthews of Robersonville, James Matthews of Robersonville, and Angela Barber and husband Brady of Bear Grass, 6 Great Great Grandchildren.The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30-8:00 PM at Gold Point Church of Christ and other times at the residence 1400 Spring Green Road. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/reflector/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=185717963#sthash.1a8BL0ot.dpuf
