Have not seen Alan in 20 years, but had a moment in time with him in Washington DC in in 1969. He was in Broadcasting School and I in the shoe business. We roomed together for about a year in Dupont Circle. He was a great guy and taught me so much, even though I was a few years older, he had the maturity and wisdom that was unbelievable.
He visited me and my family in Asheville, NC on one of his business trips about 20 yrs ago.
I have some great memories of our time together.
Rest in Peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Alan at Sovran when he was in the IT department. He was such a nice man and he will be missed here. Rest in Peace Alan.

Alan and I "went steady" in 8th grade for about 3 weeks. In spite of our long romance, Alan was always a special guy. He had a wonderful way of making people feel important and needed, a gift few people possess. His passion for music was unbelievable and his zest for life showed when he was playing his guitar. From now on whenever I hear "MaryJane", ( a favorite song of "The House Band") I will think of you. May God Bless You and Keep You.

Angela, you are a trooper and I know how hard it was for you to be at Alan's side on a daily basis but your strength and love showed through and through. May God grant you peace.

I've known Alan since High School and he was always one of my favorite people. I had the pleasure of being the drummer in the House Band for a few years and enjoyed the time I spent with Alan. He was a great friend and had a fabulous sense of humor. So rest in peace, my friend and save me a place in your band in heaven. I'd love to play with you again and get the angels dancing.

PS: Alan's phone number is the first in my cell phone and it will always be number one. I will not be deleting it, so I will think of him regularly.

Your Bud,

I had the pleasure of working with Alan at Sovran for the last few years. I'm saddened and shocked to hear of his passing. He was a very kind hearted man and I pray for his family during this time of loss.

Al, my friend Tom Davenport and I started a band in 1963. It was the first band we all had been in! Even tho Al was slightly younger than us we allowed him to join 'the band' because he was the only one who had a guitar and knew how to play it!! Fond memories Al, we will miss you sorely but know that the band you are in now is awesome . . . Party on Al, condolences to your family, you will continue to be in our prayers and memories forever!
