Bernice M. Smith

August 28, 1925 – June 25, 2025. Bernice May Smith, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dedicated community member passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on August 28, 1925, in Buffalo, N.Y. Bernice was a lifelong resident of Eggertsville, NY. Beloved wife of the late Robert P Smith; loving mother of Sandra (Dick) Brown and Matthew (Robin) Smith. Cherished grandmother of Robert Beck, Richard (Alanna) Beck, Megan Lee (Timothy) Drozda. James Kessler, Matthew M. Smith. Proud great grandmother of 8 great grandchildren. Years of special friendship to Kathleen Miller. Bernice was a graduate of Bennett High School. After raising her children, Bernice returned to the workforce as a dietary aide at Heathwood nursing facility, where she cared for others with the same dedication she gave to her family. She found joy in all aspects of her life whether it was family, sports, volunteer work or traveling. An avid Bills and Sabres fan she enjoyed attending and watching games. Past President and member of the A.J. Jurek American Legion Post 1672 Women’s Auxiliary and gave her time selflessly as a volunteer at the VA Medical Center during the Vietnam War, which reflected her deep patriotism and compassion. Bernice also was a

volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years. Bernice's long life was marked by strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
