Dr. Sabatino was the epitome of what it means to be a teacher. Having had the privilege to take many of his classes, I can say that he was a true inspiration and opened my eyes to the world in a way no other professor ever has. He was a great man and will be missed.

Charlie's classmates from Rome in the 1960's salute him for his “legacy of accomplishment and service.” Many responded to the emailed obituary with feelings similar to those quoted, plus memories of joy and warmth.

I can't begin to say what a pleasure and privilege it was to have been your neighbor and friend. You taught me so much by your examples. You are in my prayers.

My deepest condolences to Dr Sabatino's family and friends. Dr Sabatino was a superstar in every sense of the word. Frequently I witnessed his instilling hope and inspiration to those with none, and in doing so extended the length of many lives through his gift of positivism. He will be greatly missed, and his spirit will live on forever.

Like so many others, I was blessed to have Charlie as a professor, mentor, and friend. His influence was so profound that 16 years after college, I asked him to officiate at our wedding. His friendship was so constant that he agreed, traveling with Carol to Michigan to celebrate with us and deliver a wonderful ceremony.

He helped us think more critically, and consider carefully the multitude of possibilities and their value. I will carry him with me always.

Dear Carol & Family,
I was sorry to hear of your husband & father's passing. Carol, you & I worked for a number of years at Horizon and I know your Horizon family is thinking of you & Charlie and how you touched many lives who needed help for mental illness. I was glad to see you back at the agency for a recent audit, but am so sad for your loss now. But remember, don't cry because Charlie's life is over--smile because it happened.

Dear Sabatino Family, Dr. Sabatino was one of my favorite professors at Daemen. I returned for my BSN at 50 years old and he opened my mind to new ways of thinking. He led by example; keeping an open mind. He said that he "gained new insight with every semester." He has touched many lives including mine. He is a definite lost to Daemen College.
