

At the age of 96, passed away in Amherst, New York on September 23, 2026 from a brief battle with cancer. He was born on March 1, 1930, in Windber, Pennsylvania. George was the son of the late N. Clarence and Isabelle (Forsythe) Horner and was the fifth of their six children. He graduated from Windber High School in 1947 and joined the FBI in January 1948. George attended night school and received his Bachelor of Commercial Science degree in accounting in May 1955 and became an agent in July 1955 and served until February 1982. The last six years of his career were spent in Buffalo, New York as the supervisor of the White-Collar Crime Squad. After retiring, George worked for the next ten years for the Security Division of the Department of Defense, as an independent contractor.
In 1951, George married Mary Frances Stabler (1923 - 1994) in Washington D.C. She was employed by the Surgeon General’s Office and they had three daughters. He was remarried in June 1996 to Ruth Blank (1926-2016). They resided in Pawleys Island, South Carolina for almost twenty years. George is survived by his daughters: Adrienne Leary of Amherst, New York; Allison Harte (John) of the Isle of Jersey in the Channel Islands UK; Mary Costanzo (Pete) of Williamsville, New York; three grandchildren, Christopher Leary (Nikki) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Jennifer Leary (Sarah) of Amherst, New York; Rachel Costanzo of Lancaster, New York; four great grandchild, Cormac George and Arlo Thomas Leary, Kaissan and Rosie Williams; three step children, Rebecca Blank of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; Bonnie Liposchak (Paul) of Wilmington, North Carolina; William Blank (Nancy) of Wilmington, North Carolina; three step grandchildren, Christopher Semer of Columbus, Ohio; Jason Semer of Wilmington, North Carolina; Alyssa Blank (Tabarris Hamilton III) of Elmira, New York ; two step great grandchildren Arlo and Tabarris and special family friend, Susan Rueger of Wilmington, North Carolina.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday October 7 2026 at 11 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on 4007 Main St. in Eggertsville, New York followed by a “Celebration of Life” luncheon. A family only internment will take place in Buffalo, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
