They did you proud on Sunday at the Festival. Joey sounded like he did on the Shoney's CD. Mike Caputi even showed up and beat those drums like they stole something. It was a great show and it was all in honor of you; still I and I'm sure everybody wishes it was just another one of your shows and not a dedication. I honored you, Uncle Ronnie, and George's memory by wearing the shirt I had made in that scorching heat for 2 days. I heard you stopped by to watch Elle embark down a new path, which I'm sure will lead her to star status; just like you had. I don't doubt, for a second, that you were there; I just wish we all couldv'e seen you. It's funny, I try listening to other music on my ipod, but after a couple songs, I just end up resorting back to the Shoney's CD because no other music I have can put me in a better place for that moment in time. I can't wait to see you again and watch you perform my favorite music that YOU introduced me to. You guys are always on my mind, and we'll never stop missing you guys. Happy Father's day Uncle Harry. Today is going to be a hard one. You were a father figure to all the grandkids. We'll all be together today and hopefully we'll have a few laughs. You guys get to spend the day with your father and that's a nice thought. We'll all be hurting inside today because this will be the 1st one we'll all have to endure without you and Uncle Ronnie. I know you guys will be watching us today and smiling down because we'll be all together like Grandma and Papa taught us; I just wish we could look up at you guys and smile. It hurts everyday. You guys were great fathers and loved your kids and us so much and we won't forget that. I'm sure I'll be listening to your CD again today; it always puts me in a good mood. How many people can say that their favorite singer of all time is their uncle and not just because he's their uncle. Aryana will know the CD like the back of her hand just like I do. Ur music is my everlasting gift from you. I miss you guys so much.

It's always such a pleasure and a comfort to be around little Harry because he reminds me and i'm sure all of us so much of you. He has such a passion for music like you did. Out of all the CD's I have, your CD at Shoney's is and will always be my favorite, and I still listen to it all the time. You will always be my favorite singer of all time, you took every artist's song and made it sound better. I miss you and uncle Ronnie so much, as we all do. Thank you guys for always being there. I love you guys.

I'll never be able to duplicate what you were.  Seems like it hurts more everyday.  I hope this storm of extreme sadness will end one day, but I'm not sure it ever will.  I don't know if I'll be able to go camping this year.  I can't look at the picture of you guys for too long or my whole day is ruined.  I don't care about the reason why both of you have to be gone anymore, I'm just very upset that you both have to be gone; just like everybody is.  I miss you guys more everyday.

I really miss you Uncle Harry. I listen to the Shoney's CD every day. I just recently watched the benefit and it was great to see you perform and hear a couple of your quick jokes along with the italian accented ones. You, Uncle Ronnie, Grandma and Papa are included in my prayers every day. I can't believe that you're both gone and it gets overwhelming to deal with at times. I miss having you and uncle Ronnie around so much and I don't know if time will ever make it any easier. It makes me so sad that my baby will never get to know either of you. I can't stop thinking about you guys and how badly I and the entire family wish we could just end this bad dream. The family will always be strong and everybody will be taken care of. but it will never be the same without our star, and our rock. My mom is the new Grandma Stewart, but you guys together were Papa. You guys were my hero's and still are. It's bitter sweet looking at the picture of you two. Both of you guys are smiling, basically telling us that you're back together; but we now have to endure the pain of going thru life with only the fond memory of both of you. Every time I look at the picture I shake my head like, how can this be? We were all supposed to grow old together. Looking down upon us, I'm sure you see that me and the baby are at my mom's alot. She loves waving at pictures and everytime we go in the kitchen, she waves at you guys and I keep repeating your names and pointing to each one of your pictures, and then she points to them. I wish each time that you guys could, just once, say hi back. I have to whisper it in her ear when my mom's in the room because she can't take hearing both of your guy's names being repeated. There is such a deep, deep sorrow with both of you gone and I wish God would just come and take us all at the same time. I wish I could stop crying inside and half of the time on the outside. You guys made this family whole and now it's time for the grandkids to step up; but there will never be a replacement to the originals. When you guys passed, a huge piece of all of us died. It sure would be nice to see you guys again. Alot of times, I just don't want to go on with life and just come up there with you guys, but I'm reminded why I'm still here; for my baby and the family because when we're all around eachother, it makes life worth living. I now know the unconditional love you have for your child, and I know if it was up to you guys, you would still be here. This family's heart is broken, but a band-aid's put on it everytime we're together. I don't think you guys knew what you were and still are to us; but I'm sure you do now. You'll always be in our hearts and the hardest times will always be your birthdays and holidays. Uncle Ronnie told me the week before he passed when I asked him if he's listened to the Shoney's CD yet, that he couldn't; that CD is all I've listened to since Peter put it in my hands months ago. Sorry to the original artists, but Uncle Harry, none of the original artists could EVER compete with you, or you version. I love you guys with ALL my heart, I miss you guys with a hurt from the bottom of my soul, I can't wait to see you guys again, and I'm going to try and be as strong as I can for the family. I know you guys aren't suffering anymore; but that doesn't make it any easier.

I knew Harry from t time we started PS#86. We were in kindergarten together and he had that smile from the first time I met him. We sat alphabetically so he was behind me.  If something was hard for him he would ask to copy off my paper, and who could refuse that smile so of course I said yes. I talked to him not too long ago and we laughed about that. I remember taking care of his brother-in-law at Millard Fillmore in 1982 who was injured in fall and telling him that I wanted to keep going to his shows but I did not have a playboy club card and the next time he came to visit he had one for me, that was how he was! It was him on the stage but it was about everyone else. He made you feel like you were his best friend.  Our paths crossed many time over the years and I plan on that happening again. Never stop playing Harry, we are all listening!! May you RIP knowing you are loved and missed! My sympathy to your family.

Dear Stewart Family.  Godspeed as you work through your loss - Harry was a special guy who touched a lot of lives.  You may not know my story with him, you sort of had to be there and many were, but Harry and I were inducted into the Porter/Jamieson Oneida tribe in 1980 at Beaver Island State Park.   Our partners were Natives and we were serious about them, so the tribe decided to have some fun with us.  they gave us Indian names and wrapped us up in hot woolen blankets and did us up good with war paint - you should have seen them laughing at us.   I was one of the first groupies to follow around the band and drove the girls, Jamie Porter, Karen Jamieson, Sharon DiPasquale,,,etc. etc., anywhere any time any weather to see the Band.  My  band.   So the curtain went down on the cute one in My Band...but we remember, and we smile.

Heaven only knows how heavy my heart is for your family. 
I met you and your wonderful family over 35 years ago, I was treated as an extended family member then and now.  You were so blessed to be born into a family like yours, that has unity, good morals, values and traditions carried out for years.  You followed your dreams and made so many people happy.  My last memory of you, was camping this summer, watching you proudly smile at your children and grandchildren.  You will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

                     “A word to Uncle Harry from his oldest nephew”


Hey, Uncle Harry; wow, two words growing up that I couldn’t be more proud to say.  There were a couple of things I wanted to tell you that I didn’t have a chance to.
When I was younger, I wished you were my father; because you were the coolest person I ever met.  Not that I was jealous of little Harry, or wished you were instead of my father; but man, how cool would it be for my father to have been Uncle Harry.  Also, when I was younger, almost every grown up I ever met and probably every teacher I ever came in contact with; I always found a way to slip into a conversation, “Hey, do you remember the group Junction West from the 70’s?”  I couldn’t wait to tell everyone that you were my uncle.  I was also so excited growing up watching you perform, especially one of my favorite songs, “I’ll be around.”  And little Harry and my favorite song, (everyone at the Sunday dinner table knows what that was) and we had to get to the front of the stage to hear the song that started with, “Every man has a place. In his heart, there’s a space, and the world can’t erase its fantasy.  And I know Grandma led the way to you taking that ride in the sky.
I’d like to thank you for introducing me to music, which was the first love of my life and still is; next to my family and my daughter.  The biggest sorrow I will always feel from this is that other than the stories, memories, and videos, and unlike all the other great grandkids in the family, my daughter, Aryana, will never get to know you; and that will always hurt.  But, you can rest assured I WILL show her what good music is.
Thank you for the everlasting gift that you gave me.  You always were and always will be, to me, the coolest person I’ve ever met.  In fact, if it wasn’t for you and God working together; I wouldn’t be here right now.
Michael Jackson was world renowned and loved by so many people.  Well, you were our and Buffalo’s Michael Jackson, and I’m sure you’re both up there right now, blaming it on the boogie; and blaming the full stomach on all the pasta and the best sauce in the world of which, I am truly jealous.  Now with you being the only kid at the dinner table, I guess my question is, does papa allow you to talk?  I wonder if the dinner table is on the Westside on Parkside, but I know that you’re the first one making toast after dinner.
You were blessed with the pleasure of seeing your son Harry grow into a great person and a wonderful father.  You got to know his wonderful wife Emily and their two beautiful children, Ava and Brielle.  They also had the wonderful pleasure of knowing you.
I’m sure you’ll be sitting right next to the judges watching Elle win American Idol.  I know you’ll be walking with James all the way to the penalty box at all of the Sabres games, patting him on the back the entire time and saying, “Nice hit, but did you really have to lay him out like that?”  And I know you’ll be standing next to the coach with papa, watching him live out his life’s dream as Joey runs in the winning overtime touchdown for the Bills in the Superbowl.
The most fond and hilarious memory I will always have of you is when papa caught you smoking a cigarette.  You said he had to be doing almost 100 miles an hour down Hertel and basically dragged you in the house.  You screamed out to grandma, “Mom, he’s gonna kill me!”  And grandma screamed out to papa, “Harry, not in the head!” That still has me laughing hard to this day.
I still remember how much fun we, meaning me thru Daniel (because that’s all there were back then), had with everything you used to do with us.  Even though it was completely against my mother’s orders, you led the line for the whirlpool in grandma’s pool and always told us when to turn and start it the other way; even though all we could do was hold on the side with our feet being pulled the other way.  For laughs, we would always have you pronounce words backwards.  Although, I’m sure our favorite one was when we would be waiting in line for you to body slam us in the pool, but not before you picked us up and yelled out body slam backwards; in other words, “mals ydob!”
I still remember one night when you were watching us because my mother had somewhere to be.  We were all in the kitchen and you were making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and little Johnny whined about something and you said something like, “Calm down or I’ll put this peanut butter in your hair.”  He said, “No you won’t, because I’ll tell my mom when she gets home.”  You said, “Oh, you don’t think I will?”  He said, “NOPE!”  You said, “OK.”  And then, as promised, you took a piece of bread that you just loaded up with peanut butter and jammed it right on top of his head.  John, then in amazement screeched, “Uhhh!  I can’t believe you just did that!”  Inevitably, my mom came home soon after.  Of course, John told her as soon as she walked in.  So she then yells, “Harry, you put peanut butter in his hair?!”  Now I’ve heard you sing for years, but I don’t think I ever heard your voice go that high when you looked at her with fear in your eyes and yelped, “No, I didn’t!”  That was a sight to see.  I am going to miss you so much.
The funniest quick comeback that I can remember you saying was when I asked you a question about something.  You replied, “What are you writing a book?  Leave that chapter out.”  I can’t say I haven’t used that before.
Since last year, around the time of the benefit, I’ve heard of and met so many people that claimed to be “your best friend”; who didn’t even know my first name.  This doesn’t surprise me one bit, because that’s how you made people feel.  You were always such a joy to be around and made everybody love life and love being able to say they knew you and be able to share one of the many funny memories they have of you.
You’ve been asking the same question for almost 40 years, what is hip?  Well, to me, you are, were, and always will be what hipness is.  So, the answer to that question, as far as I’m concerned, is Harry Stewart III.  To this day, I have never heard the song “Vehicle” sung better by anyone else than you; and great God in Heaven Uncle Harry, you know we love you.  And just like the Spinners, I know you’ll be around.  We’ll all be together again soon, watching you do what you loved to do on that stage; probably even a duet or two with grandma.  Just make sure you save enough front row seats for all of us.
Thank you for fighting to stay as long as you could.  You’ll always be with us, and I promise to make sure that Aryana, Ava, Brielle, Isabella, and Olivia know what a powerful influence and what an amazing person you were and always will be to me.

Hi Harry, its Sam, yea Sam from the old Factory days that dad owned on Hertel...you were show biz material even back then...how old were you? maybe 10? Harry , I remember in between acts of The Tweeds or The Mellow Brick Road you used an over head projector to entertain the "under 18 year old " crowd with finger painting in between sets. We played Brookfield C C in the 90's. Your were allways gracious.. just like mom & dad... living in the Allentown area you'd honk your horn from the UPS truck... every one knew you in Allentown... not some much as Harry Stewart from JW but more so just Harry Stewart.. postive loving man..oh and yea you had nice legs in those UPS shorts. Just heard from my friend Mark Gioele in Buffalo about Harry's passing.  Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.  I knew Harry from the Playboy Club Days.  I worked there and fondly remember Harry and Junction West performances.  I think I had to have seen him perform 6 or 7 hundred times.  Every performance was fresh, energetic- what a talent!  And when the Scinta's were in the Club, Harry, Frank and the two Joey's would just rock the place.  Off stage, Harry was the consumate "nice guy".  I especially remember the pickup football games at Delaware Park before work.  Please know Harry and your Family are in my prayers!

        All of us are so heartbroken over the loss of Harry. The world is a sadder place without him. He was a gift to anyone who knew him, and to know him was to love him. He was a gift that happens once in a lifetime. We will miss him more than words can say and cherish memory forever.

To the Entire Stewart Family...I send my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolensces, as I just found out about the passing of Harry; a truly wonderful person & immense talent.  From the first time I met him back in 1972 through his good friend from North Buffalo, Ricky Vacanti...to the days of Junction West @ the 3 Coins, the Executive, Mulligans, and everywhere in between; to the last time I saw him...about a month ago at the Frog Hair Grille at a benefit for Ned Wood...still singing with Joey.  He was truly awesome and a legend throughout WNY. We will all miss him and his great smile & personality.  God bless you all!

Harry was without a doubt one of the nicest people I've met throughout my lifetime.  We knew each other for over 30 years and I am so sorry for your loss.  He will be greatly missed by all.

We will never forget the kindness that Harry showed our father. On a very snowy night about 13 yrs ago, Harry was driving his UPS truck down Elmwood Ave, and saw our dad struggling to get into his car. Since our dad was very stubborn and proud, he insisted on driving home. Harry followed him home, knowing that he was not well. The snow was deep,and our dad could hardly walk, so Harry carried him into the house. Dad was very reluctant to accept help, but Harry insisted. We are so grateful that Harry was so willing to help that night.

I met Harry Stewart many, many years ago when Junction West played at the Hilton in Niagara Falls and over the years, he and I became close friends.  Harry had a heart of GOLD and everyone loved him and when he was on stage......he owned that stage...I saw Harry probably the last time that he performed at the Taste of Buffalo and he rocked that stage as he so often did....Harry will be missed by many, but he will always be there in our hearts.....Just know that that when you hear some of those songs that he sang.........his memory will always live on forever....

Today, of all days, the radio station here in Jacksonville Florida played what they called "Adult Music". The songs were "Get Down on It" followed by "Boogie Wonderland" and then "What is Hip'...I thought that I was back at the Executive listening to Junction West. Tonight, my daughter called me with the news that Harry had traveled up the Heavenly Steps to the Pearly Gates! My heart is broken. Rest in Peace my friend. I think Harry knew everybody, and I can't imagine anybody who did not like him. He was a friend to all who knew him.

Nobody had an arsenal of jokes like he did, nor could anybody tell them like he could. 

Even when I was having a bad day, he would always tell me a joke.  It was the same ritual everytime. He would say, "Eddie, did you hear the one about...", and I would laugh so hard. Then, I would ask him, "Harry, WHERE do you hear these jokes?"  He would just smile the smile that everybody knew.

My friends and I were always on the dance floor at the Executive when Junction West played back in the 70's.  You hold a special place in my heart. Get them up and dancing in heaven. RIP Harry.  My heart goes out to the family.  He will be truly missed.

Teya, you and your family are in our prayers. I knew your Uncle briefly when I was a young adult and hitting the nightclub scene. Harry had a beautiful voice I really enjoyed not only listening to him sing but watching him on stage was an experience all to it's self. He will be greatly missed in the music world of Buffalo.
