James C. Dessert passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in the early hours of Thanksgiving morning at the age of 85. He was surrounded by his two daughters, six grandchildren, and his former wife Louise, who was also his best friend. Jim, born July 10, 1940 was a beloved son of James and Lola Dessert and a proud, life long resident of Buffalo, NY.
James was a graduate of Amherst High School and earned a Masters in Finance degree from the University of Buffalo. He was President of Founders Supply Co that was founded by his grandfather in 1927. One of Jim’s favorite jokes was asking people to “guess what I do for a living,” and then sharing the irony that Founders Supply was a sand company while his last name was pronounced “Desert.” His sense of humor and joy in the little moments were part of what made him so special.
James was longtime member of the Williamsville Rotary Club. He loved traveling, boating, fishing, ice cream, and he cherished time with family and friends. His generosity, his larger-than-life spirit, and the unmistakable twinkle in his eye touched everyone who knew him and will be remembered always.
James was a loving father to Joan E. Dessert Lynch of Lake Forest, Illinois, and Susan C. Dessert Sicignano of Clarence Center, New York. He was a beloved grandfather to Breven F.Lynch (31), Ciara L. Lynch (29), Eilise J. Lynch (25), Kernan Lynch (23), Hannah Sicignano Montgomery (28) and Henry Sicignano IV (25).
