

James Francis Leberer, September 15, 2025. Loving husband of 63 years to the late Carol Gareis Leberer; dear father of David (Cynthia), Ann (Bob) Schaefer, Kathy Leberer, Elizabeth (Frank) Waclawek, John (Aimee) Leberer and Tom (Sara) Leberer; also survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; brother of the late Ruth Haberman and late Richard Leberer, MD. Also survived by treasured nieces and nephews.
Jim was married to Carol for 63 years. Their rich life together was filled with faith, love, devotion, and a deep commitment to God, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. To Jim, nothing was more important than God and family. The ultimate planner, he organized many family vacations, outings and parties complete with silly activities and prizes! His legacy is rich, loving and cherished by all.
Jim graduated from Saint Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, Class of 1947, where he served as class president. For years he continued to organize class reunions and in 1997 his classmates honored him as “president for life” for his constant leadership. He graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo and went on to serve in the US Coast Guard from 1951-1955. Jim spent 40 years in the food business including Rich Ice Cream Co., Bishop Food Co., Peter J. Schmitt Co., and Dunkirk Ice Cream.
Jim enjoyed playing golf, singing with the Buffalo Choral Arts Society, and traveling with Carol. He was actively involved in his parish at St. Christopher’s for numerous years as Trustee, Eucharistic Minister and Finance Committee Member.
Family and friends may call at the PERNA DENGLER ROBERTS Funeral Home, 1671 Maple Rd, Williamsville, Sunday September 21, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St Christopher's RC Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd, Tonawanda, Monday September 22, 2025, at 9:30 am.
