MARTIN, Janet M. (Proy) of Williamsville, NY , passed on September 24, 2026. Beloved wife of 33 years to Douglas Martin; loving mother of Sean, MD (Alison), Conor Ph.D (Keree) and Aaron (Corina) Martin; dear grandmother of Parker, Ryan, Lucy and Caleb; sister of late Marilyn (Joseph) Mahiques; also survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, September 30 from 4-7PM at the PERNA, DENGLER, ROBERTS FUNERAL HOME, 1671 Maple Rd, Williamsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Gregory the Great Church on Thursday, October 1 at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Millard Fillmore Suburban Womens Board where Janet volunteered for many years.
Janet was known for her loyalty, integrity, dependability and unwavering kindness. She will be remembered for her warmth, determination of faith and unconditional love for all of her family and friends. An incredibly patient mother and thoughtful listener, she enthusiastically supported all of her children's pursuits. Janet loved her sons and husband with all of her heart and will remain in theirs forever.
Janet was a dedicated case administrator and technical expert for the Social Security Administration for 42 years. Primarily working in the local Buffalo area, she also pursued special assignments in New York City and Baltimore early on in her career. Her conscientious work ethic and commitment to her career earned her numerous awards and accolades paving the way for her to later complete her master's degree at Canisius College. Upon retirement, she remained exceptionally active in the community through volunteer work with numerous organizations. She was especially involved with the Women's Board of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and with services at St. Gregory the Great Parish. She loved to explore the world with her loving husband, Douglas and especially experiencing the natural beauty of many of the National Parks. She was a devout Catholic whose faith shaped her character and guided her to create a beautiful and loving family who will continue to carry on her legacy.
