She was the treasured wife of the late Luigi “Gino” Fabiano (d. 2014) and mother of Michael J. (Linda) Fabiano and Marie Molnar (nee Fabiano). She was predeceased by her husband as well as her older brother Joseph Fabiano (d. 2009). She is survived by her children as well as her brother Anthony; her grandchildren, Michael A. (Caroline Lamarque) Fabiano, James Molnar, Hannah Fabiano, and Christopher Molnar; and her great granddaughter, Sonora Fabiano. Jean was born to Mariagiuseppe and Arcangelo Fabiano and christened Gina Fabiano on June 25, 1932 in Gimigliano, Italy. When her older brother, Joseph, was to turn 18 in 1939, the family fled Italy, lest he be drafted to fight for Franco’s army in the Spanish Civil War. The family landed on Ellis Island, NY in April of 1939, with Gina anglicized as Jean. She met her Gino in the early 1950s and they married on October 10, 1953 in Port Colborne, Ontario. The happy couple took residence in Niagara Falls, NY, their children were born in 1955 and 1958, and the family moved to East Amherst in 1966. She and Luigi built a wonderful family and life together — her story is the American Dream personified. As she loved to say, “We didn’t have much, but we were happy.” She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild, was a devoted follower of Christ, and could put a smile on anyone’s face. She will be missed immeasurably. The family will be present on Monday from 8 – 9:15 AM at the PERNA DENGLER ROBERTS FUNERAL HOME 1671 Maple Road, Williamsville NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Pius X Church, 1700 North French Rd., Getzville. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean’s memory to St. Pius X Church.
