I’m sitting here in an Italian square halfway across the world thinking about how much Mrs Economou impacted my life. Since second grade until her passing after eighth grade, I saw her three to four times a week. I was not a student of hearing loss as her expertise, but a child of Deaf adults — CODA. Our families grew close, I even played with her children, and went over to her house. Together with other students we kept a school club fun and exciting. Mrs Economou kept me motivated in school and helped me with almost all my schoolwork. In 2020 when I walked across the stage at graduation at Williamsville South, I immediately was rushed with emotions and memories of Mrs Economou and my late grandmother. They were waiting for that important day for me. And I know their spirits were present with me. I’m now a sign language interpreter, proud to carry on helping the Deaf and hard of hearing. At 14 years old, I wasn’t able to fully comprehend the consequences of death. Now at almost 20, I know Mrs Economou is in God’s arms watching over me and her closest. 🤟🏼

Kristin was one of the kindest, most caring people and teachers I've ever had the privilege to work with.  She will be so deeply missed as both a colleague and friend.  I wish her family peace during this difficult time.

The ultimate teacher, Kristin gave her heart and soul to help her students.  She has made such a difference in the lives of so many children and her sweet, humble, loving smile will always be remembered.

The Williamsville Retired Teachers Association is sorry to learn of Kristin's passing. She was a very important member of a team of folks helping children. Problems of speech and hearing   can often be major handicaps in the learning process and that was Kristin's gift to education. She was also a vital human being loved by all her fellow staff. I was blessed to share students with Kristin at Heim. She was brave, strong, and kind. Her students lit up when she came into my classroom! Kristin talked about how proud she was of her family, and how much she loved her own children. She went above and beyond each and every time I had any interaction with her about our students.  She will be deeply missed, but not forgotten. My deepest condolences to her family and friends, she lent grace to every thing she did.

Kristin and I began our time together at Language Development Program/Summit Educational Resources and then we both moved to the Williamsville Central Schools.  As a Speech-Language Pathologist, our paths crossed frequently throughout our 20 years together.  Her smile, love for the children, knowledge, and compassion will all be missed greatly by our entire Williamsville faculty.  My deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers are with you in this very difficult time.

Kristin was such a wonderfully warm person to see each time she came into the library to work with one of her students. I came to know her over the years as I shared her space. She was always so kind and thoughtful and such a wonderful teacher to her students and to all those who were lucky enough to have worked with her. She did have a wonderful spirit and those who worked with her adored her. My thoughts and heart go out to her family at this sad time.
