When I joined the Buckley office in 1975, Mary was an "old hand" who helped me to minimize my many mistakes. I treasure the memory of both her wonderful laugh and her serious commitment to good causes, especially pro-life. I know her discussion of the subject made a major impression on Barbara Bush during her husband's 1980 campaign. Mary kindly did not rub it in when we were pulled over for speeding on the GW Parkway, going to a political affair. I hope Walter remembers the day when, newly arrived in this country, she brought him to our home in DC to meet her friends. Hillary Clinton was able to end Mary's time in government, but true to form, Mary stood her ground, knowing she was in the right. May God bless her for her courage and her many kindnesses to me and to others. Bill Gribbin

So, so sorry to hear about Mary's death.  I haven't seen her in years, but we worked closely together in the first George HW Bush campaign in 1979 and she was tough, sweet, driven, and oh-so-happy to find Walter and Rosa!  If either happens to see this, I'd love to hear from you.  Walter may remember the very large firetruck that my wife and I brought him at our first meeting.

Mary was a dear friend in Washington days. We once made a trip to Ireland together, and had a wonderful time. Mary was an example to me when my husband and I adopted our children from China. May she rest in peace, and may her children and grand-children treasure her memory.

I have many fond memories of Mary during our high schook and college years. She always made me smile and I valued her friendship.

So many memories of our family’s visits from Texas-the warm welcome we received in the Gall’s home, the spirited discussions and rousing ping pong games. There was never a dull moment in their household. Mary struck me as a chip off the old block of her Dad. Not that both Katie & Mary didn’t share his very committed defense of a  stance on important matters. Mary’s was usually more in line w/her Dad’s than was Katie’s.
I always admired our cousin Mary’s tenacity. She never shirked from her responsibilities nor from her convictions no matter the cost.  Whether it was adopting her beautiful children from South America or defending her decisions as undersecretary on a government stage, she did not waver in pursuit of her studied convictions. We need more patriots and parents of her ilk. She obviously did her part to leave this world a better place. May she rest eternally in the perpetual light of Christ. You will be sorely missed dear Mary.

I have many wonderful and fond memories of both of you and your mom and hope your later years together were spent building many more loving memories.  I am so sorry for your loss as I know you and her grandchildren were  her world and it pains me to know she is no longer with you.  I am sure Big Gnat welcomed her to heaven with open arms.
