Our grandmother lived a life full of love, family, cherished memories, and a whole lot of laughter. As the beloved wife of the late Joseph D’Anna, she created a warm and inviting home filled with energy, love, and antics that there isn’t enough room on this page to tell you about. She was a devoted mother to Colleen (Curtis) Van Order, Nora (late Silvio) Bellante, Anthony D’Anna, and the late Joseph D’Anna, always providing unwavering support and guidance. There truly wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her children, and that extended out to countless others. Her role as a grandmother was one she treasured, showering Deanna (Frank) Bellante-Gentile, Juliana Bellante, Colleen Bellante, and Christian D’Anna with endless affection and pride. The joy of her life extended to her great-grandson, Frankie Bellante Gentile, whom she endearingly called "my guy." He kept her on her toes and brought immense joy in her later years, getting “the biggest kick out of him.” Together they shared a special bond, one that included teaching him how to play lotto tickets at the young age of 5.
She was far from your typical grandma; she had a unique zest for life and a wonderfully wacky side. She loved casinos, bingo, family trips to the woods, late-night unsolved mysteries, all while enjoying a Brandy Alexander cocktail in hand and sharing life lessons on things such as how we can save ourselves if we were ever kidnapped and tossed in the trunk of a car. She had a sweet tooth that knew no bounds, often indulging in nothing but desserts. Her love for nature and the changing of the fall colors was profound, and she found immense joy in simply having a good time while surrounded by those she loved. My grandmother was incredibly generous, perhaps even too generous at times, always ensuring that no one was left behind. Her motto was, "What's one more person?" embodying her inclusive and caring spirit.
She was a woman of strong family values and faith, the loving daughter of the late Dennis and Beatrice (nee Lynch) McCarthy, and a dear sister of the late Dennis (late Gloria) McCarthy, late Katheryn Wojtulski; late John (Barbara) McCarthy, late Thomas (Carrie) McCarthy, the late Beatrice (late Richard) Cicero; also survived by her special sister in law Arlene and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her memory will forever be etched not only in the hearts of her family but to all of those who knew and loved her.
She will be missed dearly, but her spirit will always remain.
Rest in peace, my sweet Grandma. I hope heaven has that log cabin waiting for you, filled with your loved ones who have gone before you.
Until we’re together again, I’ll meet you in my dreams in the mountains of Alaska looking for Big Foot. ❤️
