Amantia, Philip J.,Sr. of Williamsville, NY passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024; Beloved husband of 52 years to Petronilla (nee Maloney); devoted father of Nina (Joseph) Carozza, Philip (Loredana Lanza) Amantia, Jr.,and Joseph (Jackie Meno) Amantia; cherished grandfather of Nathan and Gianna Carozza, Massimo, Gabriella, Angelo and Dominic Amantia; Loving son of the late Christopher and Rose (nee Gerbasi) Amantia; dear brother of Vincent (Michelina) Amantia; revered brother in law of Anthony (Barbara) Maloney and Nancy (Kenneth) Andromalos; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Philip was a 1962 graduate of Aquinas Institute in Rochester, NY. He received a bachelors in accounting from Trine University, Angola, Indiana and his MBA from SUNY Binghamton. Philip spent 4 years in the US Air Force as a staff sergeant. After receiving his honorable discharge he worked for Bendix Corporation in Sidney, NY. He then moved to Buffalo, NY in 1984 to work for Delaware North after which he opened his own accounting practice in Williamsville, NY. Philip was ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Buffalo in June 2003. After ordination he was the celebrant for many baptisms, pre Cana classes, and outreach to the sick and homebound through St. Gregory the Great Parish. He also did ministry work at Wende Correctional Facility and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Philip most loved spending time with his family. After retiring in 2006, he enjoyed doing remodeling work for family and friends. He also loved to fish and hunt with his father-in-law, brother-in-law and Pennsylvania friends. Philip spent the winter months in Phoenix, AZ with his two sons and their families where he was given faculties in the Diocese of Phoenix by Bishop Olmsted and did ministry work at Corpus Christi Parish. Relatives and friends are invited to visit PERNA, DENGLER, ROBERTS FUNERAL HOME, 1671 Maple Road, Williamsville, NY on Sunday August 4 from 2 – 6PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Gregory the Great Parish, Williamsville, NY on Monday at 9:30 AM. Please assemble at church.
