January 3, 1952 – October 12, 2025
Robert “Bob” Powers Schick, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at age 73.
Bob was born on January 3, 1952, in Syracuse, NY, to Norris and Bernadine (née Gladziszewski) Schick. He earned a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s in Business from Clarkson University. His career at Praxair (aka Linde), where he worked as a Chemical Engineer, took him across the US, Europe, and even to Brazil.
Outside of work and home, Bob was involved in community and service. He was a longtime member of St. Christopher’s Church in Amherst, where he volunteered as an usher. Together with Deb, he also volunteered at the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts and Studio Arena Theater. Their shared love of the arts and travel took them across the U.S. and abroad, from river cruises through Europe to visits with family in Wisconsin.
Despite facing the lingering impacts of childhood polio, Bob developed an avid love for sports, playing everything from fast-pitch softball to tennis and even flag football. He loved being involved in his children’s sports (umpiring and score keeping) and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports in recent years. While watching many sports on TV, he often provided his family with color commentary about the game.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Debra (née Kupsh) Schick; his sons Brian Schick and wife Sara Sargent, Andrew Schick and wife Tansy Schick, and Kyle Schick and his fiancée Jessica Stroupe; his siblings Susan (Jack), Joanne (Edward), Andy, and Margaret (Jeffery); and his beloved grandchildren Arianna, Braelynn and Emmett. He was preceded in death by his sister Carol and his parents, Norris and Bernadine.
The family will be present for visitation on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9-10:30 AM at the Perna, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home, located at 1671 Maple Road, Williamsville, NY 14221. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St Christopher's RC Church, located at 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd, Tonawanda, NY, 14150o n Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:30 AM. A celebration of life luncheon will be held after Mass at Banchetti’s at 550 North French Rd. Amherst, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, University at Buffalo Center for the Arts, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
