I really miss you guys. I'm sure you saw the show at the festival. It still feels harder every day. I still wish God would just come and take us all at the same time so we can all be together again. You guys are always on my mind. I wish you all couldv'e been her to watch Aryana grow up; Im sure you see that she is a strong factor in helping me and my mom deal with this. I love you guys

Happy Father's day Uncle Ronnie. Today is going to be a hard one. You were a father figure to all the grandkids. We'll all be together today and hopefully we'll have a few laughs. You guys get to spend the day with your father and that's a nice thought. We'll all be hurting inside today because this will be the 1st one we'll all have to endure without you and Uncle Harry. I know you guys will be watching us today and smiling down because we'll be all together like Grandma and Papa taught us; I just wish we could look up at you guys and smile. It hurts everyday. You guys were great fathers and loved your kids and us so much and we won't forget that. Whenever I need to make a big decision, I'll think of what your advice might've been. Whenever my daughter needs anything, I'll think of how great of a father you were. Aunt Carolyn, Samantha and Ronnie will never be alone. When you were here, we always opened our ears and opened our hearts the the words that you said. You were truly our tower of power, and if we could hear your and Uncle harry's voice again, we'd all be fine. We miss you guys so much.

Your son made us so proud with the song he wrote for you. It reminded me of the amazing eulogy you did for Uncle Harry. We miss you guys so much. Always thinking of both of you. I love you guys.

Extremely sad to see a great man no longer with us.  Ron taught me many things as my boss, mentor, and friend.  He touched many peoples lives and had a passion for helping others.  Ron you will be missed! Thank you for all you did for me.

At Shoshone Park or at Canisius High School, you were always dedicated and sincere in your coaching and genuine concern for the players and their lives. "And I'll take....with me the the memories...to be my sunshine after the rain..." I really wish my uncles were still here.  You guys were my inspiration to grow up and be a man.  I'll never be able to duplicate what you were.  Seems like it hurts more everyday.  I hope this storm of extreme sadness will end one day, but I'm not sure it ever will.  I don't know if I'll be able to go camping this year.  I can't look at the picture of you guys for too long or my whole day is ruined.  I don't care about the reason why both of you have to be gone anymore, I'm just very upset that you both have to be gone; just like everybody is.  I miss you guys more everyday.

I really miss you Uncle Ronnie. You always helped everybody and myself with and anything and everything.  I’m still astounded about how you did everything that was needed from 7th Street, to being there for all of Uncle Harry’s kids for whatever they needed. I remember if I needed something or to know for sure that I had the correct answer, asking my mom where Uncle Ronnie was or what he was doing right now.  There were many answers to that question like, James’ game, James’ practice, Joey’s game, Joey’s practice, 7th Street, helping Uncle Danny, the list just kept going; but you always had enough time to answer your phone and help out the best way you could; over the phone. You, Uncle Harry, Grandma and Papa are included in my prayers every day. I can't believe that you're both gone and it gets overwhelming to deal with at times. I miss having you and Uncle Harry around so much and I don't know if time will ever make it any easier. It makes me so sad that my baby will never get to know either of you. I can't stop thinking about you guys and how badly I and the entire family wish we could just end this bad dream. The family will always be strong and everybody will be taken care of, but it will never be the same without our star, and our rock. My mom is the new Grandma Stewart, but you guys together were Papa. You guys were my hero's and still are. It's bitter sweet looking at the picture of you two. Both of you guys are smiling, basically telling us that you're back together; but we now have to endure the pain of going thru life with only the fond memory of both of you. Every time I look at the picture I shake my head like, how can this be? We were all supposed to grow old together. Looking down upon us, I'm sure you see that me and the baby are at my mom's a lot. She loves waving at pictures and every time we go in the kitchen, she waves at you guys and I keep repeating your names and pointing to each one of your pictures, and then she points to them. I wish each time that you guys could, just once, say hi back. I have to whisper it in her ear when my mom's in the room because she can't take hearing both of your guy's names being repeated. There is such a deep, deep sorrow with both of you gone and I wish God would just come and take us all at the same time. I wish I could stop crying inside and half of the time on the outside. You guys made this family whole and now it's time for the grandkids to step up; but there will never be a replacement to the originals. When you guys passed, a huge piece of all of us died. It sure would be nice to see you guys again. A lot of times, I just don't want to go on with life and just come up there with you guys, but I'm reminded why I'm still here; for my baby and the family because when we're all around each other, it makes life worth living. I now know the unconditional love you have for your child, and I know if it was up to you guys, you would still be here. This family's heart is broken, but a band-aid's put on it every time we're together. I don't think you guys knew what you were and still are to us; but I'm sure you do now.  I’ll always think of you whenever I hear a Katy Perry song or “Bottoms Up”. You'll always be in our hearts and the hardest times will always be your birthdays and holidays. Uncle Ronnie, you told me the week before you passed when I asked you if you’ve listened to the Shoney's CD yet, that you couldn't; I then told you that CD is all I've listened to since Peter put it in my hands months ago. Sorry to the original artists, but none of the original artists could EVER compete with Uncle Harry or his  version; I'm sure you were well aware of that, too. I love you guys with ALL my heart, I miss you guys with a hurt from the bottom of my soul, I can't wait to see you guys again, and I'm going to try and be as strong as I can for the family. I know you guys aren't suffering anymore; but that doesn't make it any easier.

I've read this guest book countless times!  Everyone writes the same thing about Ronny and that is a true reflection of the man.  
For me he was a motivator, a guide, a boss and most importantly the most dependable friend. While he valued his family more than anything, he'd a way of incorporating his family values no matter the context. Some people have a way of making that feel like an imposition; Ronny made it feel like an invitation. His purpose in life was never lost on him.  It was his mission to help others and it always seemed effortless. Anyone who's ever burdened half of what he took on knows the incredible strength necessary for the job.  
I miss him every day and pray for Samantha, Junior, Carolyn and the countless number of people who feel this loss.

      I'm sorry that this has taken so long. I know you and Uncle Harry are together, but like I told him there is is comfort in that so far. I am trying to keep an eye as I know you would have asked me to like you did after Uncle Harry. A Word To Uncle Ronnie from his oldest nephew



Uncle Ronnie, where do I start?  How do I let the world know what you were to us?
 You were the electrician, the counselor, the geek squad, the mediator, the psychiatrist, the go to guy.  You were our representation, the ride to here or there, the second opinion, the coach, the 1st reference thought of to put on an application.  You were the one to call to verify that any document was prepared correctly.  You were the head of the line for all the camping hikes, you carved out all of our walking sticks, you got the fire started, you put the family first (before your own needs); you were our knight in shining armor.  And like the person you were so extremely proud of, you were our personal Mark Grisanti.  In other words, you were the Stewart family’s senator.  And I’m sure Mark is just as proud of you as you were of him; as we all are of you.
 To quote a movie I once saw, you may not have left the earth with a lot of money, but you died rich because you invested in people, and most of all, your family; and we will never forget that.  You put your personal needs and yourself to the side, and sacrificed your life to help out and do things for everybody else; just like Jesus did.  That’s why I know you are now, and will be, walking on streets of gold in Heaven forever.  
 I know when you got up there, Grandma told you how proud she is of you, along with Papa; right before saying, “Good job son, now go help your mother set the table.”  You don’t ever have to worry again about having to watch a Yankee’s game without Uncle Harry, and now you, Papa, and Uncle Harry can watch the Bills lose on Sundays together.
 I’m so proud of you for everything you’ve done for me and the family, and so thankful that God put a person like you in our lives.  I could never speak your name without pride in my voice because I’ve always looked up to, and wanted to be as on-the-ball, in control, as cool, calm, collected, and as confident in everything I do as you.  I remember growing up my squeaky voice, I always hoped that when I matured, I would have the smooth, laid back, Italian accented voice that I always remembered you having.  I still don’t know how you made the word quesadilla sound like something Italian.
 When Uncle Harry passed, it broke our hearts into pieces; but we still had YOU; the rock.  I said to you, in tears, shortly after, “I looked up to you and Uncle Harry so much for my entire life, what am I supposed to do when YOU go?”  You laughed and said you weren’t going anywhere anytime soon and gave me a big hug.  
 I’m not upset at all with you for sacrificing yourself for other people, I just wish you could’ve taken out some time for yourself to rest a little, and didn’t have to stress so much about what you needed to get done, BY YOURSELF, and I wish you would’ve vented some of your stress to us; as we always did to you.  As always, you then gave us the sound advice to handle the situation (whatever it was), and get on with our day.  I’m sure the entire time, you were praying for your own peace.  Well, you finally got it.  And in being human and selfish; we want you back so badly.
 You paid the ultimate sacrifice for greatness, and I plan to keep walking the right path to meet once again with you and the rest of our dearly departed family; because just like God has promised all those that walk the right path; our best days are just ahead of us.  To quote a very meaningful passage in the Bible, Philippians 1:21, “To live is Christ, and to die is gain.”  Basically meaning we all suffer through life; and in choosing the right path, in death of our physical body; we can share the promised land for all eternity.  
 Nobody in the family ,or not in the family, should feel bad for receiving your help; as you were very proud and so willing to give it.  It just hurts so much that my wonderful, blessed daughter, Aryana Joi, will never get to know you or Uncle Harry; two people that were such a huge, positive influence to me and so important in my life.  
 I love you and I miss you so much, and just like Grandma, Papa, and Uncle Harry; that feeling will never leave, and that void will never be filled.  Thank you so much Uncle Ronnie, for everything that you’ve done for myself, and the family, from making sure all of the kids got to every game and practice, for helping everybody with everything and anything; to the simple quick advice phone calls.
 Now, your nephew Michael is feeling very bad because he never got to ask you, personally, to confirm him this June.  Although we know now that Aunt Shell already told you, and let the cat out of the bag, you were absolutely thrilled.  We want you to know, although he didn’t get to ask you personally, he has now asked little Harry to stand in for you.  You will still be his sponsor and he will still be taking your name.  I know you would’ve been absolutely honored to have sponsored him, and you will be smiling down on him on that day.
 Speaking of Aunt Shell, she reminded me of something.  Your famous last words of any conversation when called in a time of need always were, “I’m on my way, I’ll be right there,” and I wonder if that’s what you said to Uncle Harry when it was your time to go.  And even though Uncle Harry was and always will be what hipness is, you were our Tower of Power because just like God does, you always gave us strength and your words were always very powerful.
 God spoke and worked through YOU, in selflessness and in giving with expecting absolutely nothing in return; except sauce on an occasional Sunday.  Figuratively speaking, you carried your own cross; without ever complaining about how heavy it was.  The only difference was, you didn’t know it was about to be your time.  God then said, “Great job my son; I’m very proud of you.  Now come and join me and your brother, who you have missed so dearly; and suffer no more.”  I’m guessing God might’ve chuckled a little bit after that and said to you, “Do you have any clue how hard it was to keep you 2 apart for 2 months?”  I’m sure Uncle Harry was up there the entire time asking God if it was time yet like a little kid waiting to open his birthday presents, ‘OK Lord, can he come now?  How about now?  In 5 minutes?  My mom needs to know how many places to set.  Can he be here for coffee?  Can you tell him to grab mine and my dad’s member only jacket?”  But I know when you finally rejoined him, Uncle Ronnie, he must’ve said something like, “Bro-ski!  Take you jacket off, stay a while.  You almost missed the Superbowl party.  Come on, mom and dad are waitin for ya.  And yes, we have to sit at the kids table.”  
 You left a legacy behind for us all to walk in the footsteps of, and to quote little harry’s letter to you about Uncle Harry, “We will never get over this, but we will get through this together.”  
 As I’ve said before, we WILL all be together again soon, and we all can’t wait to see you again.  We WILL keep all of the traditions ongoing, in honor of you, Uncle Harry, Grandma, and Papa.  We WILL take care of your family, as you did our whole family; and we WILL always remember everything you did for us, and all that you meant to us.
 The Sunday after you past was the 1st Sunday we had to go through without being able to see, talk to, sit next to, eat with, share a few laughs with, have coffee with, or hug you when it was time for everyone to go home.  Early in the day, I raised my head to the sky and asked you, to please give me a sign; to let me know that you’re OK.  I guess it was all planned because I was the 1st one to finish eating, and the 1st one to go outside.  Now, everyone that knew you, knew how patriotic you were; and how much you loved the combination of red, white, and blue.  When I went outside and looked up into the sunset, sure enough, bottom to top, in that order, the sky was red, white, and blue.  We got the message Uncle Ronnie, that you’re doing just fine, that you’re looking down upon us, and that your beloved dog, Tasha, found you.  Thank you for giving us a little peace, and for putting a smile on our faces; as you always did.  
 You were not my great uncle, but just like Uncle Danny and Uncle Harry; you were always a great uncle.  And just like George is, you were always like a second father to me.  
 I’ll miss you, my uncle, our rock, our iron fist, our mentor, our hero; our friend.

to the entire Stewart Family, my deepest condolences! I just heard last night of Ronnie's passing. I'm in complete shock! The world needs more people like Ronnie, and Harry, not less. May the Lord show us all, the way. Rest in Peace.

The world lost a true gem last Friday in Ronnie's passing.  It sounds trite to say, but Ronnie truly was one of a kind.  He was one of the kindest, most helpful and genuine people I've ever known.  He was never unkind, never judgemental, never petty or jealous.  He lived and let live.  He accepted people as they were and celebrated our differences and uniqueness.

One of the things that most stands out about Ronnie was his capacity to love everyone and want the best for us.  He did not see our faults, only our strengths...and he was always proud of us, HIS FAMILY.  In his eyes, we were all perfect and he wouldn't have changed a hair on our heads.  

I remember the times at Grandma's - running around chasing the girls, hiding under Grandma's bed spying on them and getting caught by Uncle Pat, playing army, just having fun.  I remember how he called me "Mowky" because he couldn't say his "r"s.  I will never forget those times, ever.

I can never thank him enough for his support in the passing of my parents, and especially for reading my mother's eulogy for me at her funeral when I was too heartbroken to do it.  He was a rock.  Our bond will never be broken.

Carolyn, Samantha, and Ronnie Jr.:  Words cannot express the pain we all feel for you.  Please remember his words: "You are not alone".  We are all here for you whenever, forever.  Families stick together in good times and especially in times like these.  We are only a call away.

Ronnie, you ARE the best and I will keep your memory alive as long as I live.  You always made me feel like you were proud of me, no matter what.  Your loyalty was truly beautiful.  I hope I can follow your example.  You ARE like a brother to me and I love you for being you.  Until we meet again, keep the sauce warm and Go Yankees!

Dear Carolyn and family - my first memory of Ronnie was in sharing an office with him in the old County building in Niagara Falls.  His office was a "palace", complete with a sewer drain that he covered with duct tape.  He told funny stories about what lived down under the duct tape and I would try not to laugh each time I saw a client in that office as the drain with the duct tape would would "breathe" often!.  Ronnie had such a knack with kids - he was a "pied piper" - the kids loved him and he loved them.  He would help any kid who needed help and worked miracles that defied logic.  He always asked about my family and always took an interest in others.  I know how much he loved his family as he always talked about you and the kids with such a glowing smile.  He was one of the most special people I have ever known.  God bless all of you.  He was a prince among princes.

Carolyn & Marylou: It is with the most sincere regret that I hear of Ronnie's passing.  I do not know what to say or whether there even exists words to comfort your family. May you live in the joyus memory of the love and happiness Ronnie gave freely, openly, and without reservation. Carolyn - we were dear friends in our earlier years and I can only say this....I love you, and I am so sorry for what your family is experiencing. To the Ronnie Stewart Family!I was so saddened that God had taken Ronnie at such a young age, especially after the very recent death of his dear brother Harry. I saw him and talked to him at Mark's election night party and never dreamed I wouldn't see him again! He was one of the nicest gentleman I ever knew and can see why Anthony and Mark (who were devistated by this)bonded with him his whole life! He came from wonderful parents, Elvira and Harry, and that's why he was such a fine, respectful boy. I know you,his loving Family, will all miss him dearly and so will all whose lives he touched. I'll say a pray for Ron and all of you.

Tonight, February 1,2011, I touched my dear friend and said my goodbye for now to a man who touched my life in so many ways!
As I saw all his family photos with his beautiful family, my heart broke. My heart broke even harder for your pain and your loss. I wish I could take it all away!! Ron's words about how much he loved his wife, loved his daughter and loved his son shows in all your photos together. Remember those moments. Remember those times and know that you have a million memories with one of the greatest guys around. Keep those memories close. That's what he would have wanted. He wants you to look at all those photos all the time and remember. 
I will never forget all the photos he took in the 12 years of friendship we shared! 
I will always be thankful for the support, strength and encouragement Ronnie gave to my daughter all of her school age years. He helped her when she fell down, he helped her when she was blue, he helped her believe in herself, he was a truly genuine man that I am proud to know!
Ronnie always spoke such kind and loving words about all of you all the time! He adored each one of you and he was so proud of all three of you. Samantha, you were his girl. Ronnie, you were his good little boy and Carolyn, you were his best friend!! We had some good talks about his love for his family!!
Please guys, stick together!  Dont give up on each other as hard as it may get. That's what he would want!!

Dear Carolyn, Samantha, Ronnie, and Stewart family –

I am so sorry to hear about Ronnie.  He was truly a great man, and I’ll miss him terribly. To me he was a coach, a mentor, and a friend.  Not only was I lucky enough to be coached by him, but I also had the distinct pleasure of coaching with him and being his friend.

Wow - what he did for hundreds of kids over the years as a coach is immeasurable, and the effects his efforts were exponential.  He put his heart and soul into coaching for all of those years, making himself the best coach possible.  No defense was ever as prepared as a Ronnie Stewart defense.  More importantly, what he did was help give kids an outlet, while teaching them that preparation was paramount and excellence is expected.  All of us at Shoshone Park were fortunate to have been surrounded by the best coaches on the planet, and Ronnie was among the best of them.  He loved each and every kid as if they were his own, and he would do anything for anyone at anytime.  If you played for Ronnie you were one of “his boys” for life.

When we were coaching together at Canisius High School in the mid 90s, without ever realizing how profound it was, Ronnie made a private, one-sentence statement to me that has become a coaching/parenting creed of mine.  

There are several of us that played for Ronnie who now coach our own kids.  Although we could never measure up, we always find ourselves trying to perform to the standard that Ronnie would perform to as a coach and mentor.  So, 25 years later, kids who never even heard of Ronnie are able to constantly reap the benefits of Ronnie’s examples through us.

In life you come across a handful of people who always leave you feeling better after you see them.  Ronnie was one of those guys.  Whether it was a phone call, a random bumping into each other, or a planned event I always left Ronnie with a smile.

Not only will I miss our inside joke about a “hypothetical insurance question” every time I talked to him, but I’ll miss his grin and his distinctive laugh.  More importantly, I’ll miss knowing that Ronnie would always be there for anything if I needed him. The world is a better place because Ronnie was here for a short time. RIP Coach Ron.

You guys were always like a second family to me, and you still are. I spent most of my childhood with you guys, and I couldn't have asked for a better family to spend all of my summers with on the softball diamond. Mr. Stewart was one of the most compassionate, caring, and funniest men that I have ever been blessed to know. He not only put everyone before himself, but he always had a smile on his face doing it. His laugh, I can still hear it now, and I will never forget it.

Words can't express how great of a man he was. I know you all are going through a difficult time, but I think that Mr. Stewart was truely that man that would want you guys to keep on smiling. I could never apologize enough to all of you. You have a very strong family, and my thoughts and prayers go out to every one of you. I hope your family can find peace in this tragic situation. I hope Mr. Stewart is having fun with Harry too.

I hope God gives you, Mrs. Stewart, Sammie, and Ronnie, the strength to get through this. I will never forget Mr. Stewart. He touched my heart in so many ways and taught me so many lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I didn't look at Mr. Stewart as just a coach, because he made me feel like I was more than just someone on his daughters team. Mr. Stewart made everyone feel like that, he always kept everyone smiling and laughing.

I could go on and on about Mr. Stewart and sincerely, how great of a man he really was. He was the best fan, picture taker, and first aid man any team could ever have. I will miss him tremendously. I will pray for your family to get through this, and God bless all of you in this time of sorrow. I'm here for all of you, with anything that you need.  Brought together by a neighborhood, and connected together by friendship that has lasted over thirty years.

 We remember the good times, Hertel Ave, Mister Tony's, Mulligans, the 747, Christmas Eve at the Stewarts, Jacques Cartier State Park, The Malibu with all the Smurfs.

     And even though most of us have moved to different parts of the country, its that strength and bond of friendship, that brings our memories back home to North Buffalo and the great times we had with our friend Ronnie. Hollywood couldn't have scripted it better.

Ronnie - I was struck by your charisma at my first Dougherty dance, Junction West playing, you gathering us for the party to come. The many Wednesday nights at 747, drink and drown, more celebration, more coming of age. The Christmas Eves at your house, again you gathering us, some of us having moved away, now back for the holidays. More incredible times. And sitting with you and Carolyn during a trip to Buffalo awhile back, in a warm conversation about children and family. You were a kind guy, a serving guy, a loving guy. I don't ever recall an ounce of aggression or ill will from you. My wish is that Carolyn and your children will eventually recover from their loss, and always remember what a good guy you were.

Having Ronnie as a friend growing up was wonderful, we had so much fun. He was definitely one of the good guys. Never a harsh word and so filled with love and friendship for anyone who wanted to be part of his life. I am grateful that he was a part of my life during those early and at times challenging years growing up.

I will miss bumping into him all around Kenmore, stopping for a brief moment in such a rushed world, to hug and to catch up on what was happening in our lives.

It is a reminder to all of us to take the time, stop, give that hug and share a few words. Many times we forget how short life is, we do not know when God will call us home.

Carolyn was blessed to be his closest friend, fall in love with him, marry him and had a beautiful family with him. He was also blessed to have all of that with Carolyn.

May Ronnie enjoy all that heaven has to offer along side his brother Harry. May God give the Stewart family the strength to get through all of this.
