Timothy J. Cannon

passed away on June 20th 2026, at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Melissa Cannon; his daughters Sara Franus (Nathan Franus), Julie Norman (Patrick Norman) and Megan Cannon. Siblings, Rick (Sheila) Cannon, Kate Cannon (Jim Lane) and Maureen Cannon Chiofalo (Tony Chiofalo). He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Marion Cannon of Buffalo and brothers Kevin (Kathy) Cannon and Greg Cannon. Loving grandfather of 9 grandchildren.

Tim was born on September 13, 1952 in Buffalo, New York. He grew up in Williamsville, NY and graduated from Williamsville South High School. Tim served in the United States Navy. He lived many years in Sarasota, Florida with his family where he became a founder of Cannon Brothers Construction before moving to Akron, New York, where he and his wife Melissa designed and built a beautiful home together. He had a rewarding career with FEMA, which took him across the country in service to communities in need. He then worked for the US Department of Agriculture in upstate NY. A gifted woodworker and craftsman, he built beautiful classical guitars which he also loved to play.

Tim was an active and beloved presence in his children and nine grandchildren’s lives, especially through youth sports. He was a cherished youth soccer coach, where his patience and encouragement left a lasting impression on the young athletes he mentored. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Max, Olivia, William, Briana, Stella, Jack, Timothy, Patrick and Declan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 13, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church 5771 Buell St. Akron NY. Please assemble at the church. A Celebration of Tim’s Life will immediately follow Mass at the Timberlodge located at the Arrowhead Golf Club in Akron NY from 12 – 4PM. Interment with Military Honors will be at the WNY National Cemetery on Tuesday July 14th at 10 AM.
