A kind and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather passed peacefully on June 15, 2026, just weeks shy of his 92nd birthday.
Above all else, Tim loved his wife Judy. They met on a frozen pond in Sheridan Parkside on a cold winter’s day in January 1951 and he was immediately smitten. It took great courage when they met for the 2nd time. He often told the story of pacing back and forth in front of her house, working up the nerve to ring the doorbell. They were married four years later in April 1955 and shared more than 71 years together. Except for his military service in South Korea and occasional business trips, Tim was rarely away from his Judy for long. Even in his last days, when his mind and body was failing, he still asked for his Judy.
Wherever he was, Tim loved talking about his family. He cherished each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren equally and took a genuine interest in their lives. Their successes brought him great joy, and their hardships weighed heavily on his heart.
Growing up, Tim’s family moved often across the country. There was also a year-long stay in an orphanage when his mother was stricken with tuberculosis. These experiences made it especially important to him to create a stable home for his own family. After years of hard work and the unwavering support of his wife, he purchased a home on a quiet street in August 1965 and lived there for the rest of his life. He loved to tinker around the house, tend to the garden and spend time in his basement workshop. There was very little he couldn’t fix.
Tim was deeply grateful for the blessings and protection that God and Mother Mary provided him. It was a running joke in the family that his Guardian Angel had a full-time job watching over him. Nearly every night, he prayed the rosary with Judy, and even in his final days, he could recite the Our Father and Hail Mary from memory.
Born on the 4th of July, Tim made it easy to find his house – it is the one with a 25-foot flagpole, a 50th birthday present from his Judy. He loved watching the American flag dance in the wind. Deeply grateful for all his country had given him, he gave back through his service in the United States Army. During 1955-56, he was stationed in South Korea with the peacekeeping forces less than 15 miles from the DMZ.
Tim spent more than 40 years in the steel industry. He served as Vice-President of Sales at Roblin Steel in North Tonawanda, and later, worked as a manufacturer’s representative for several respected companies, including Charter Steel of Wisconsin. He was a trusted voice in the industry and maintained many friendships long after his retirement in 2004. Steel was more than a profession to him - it was a passion for him and he never lost his appreciation for how it shaped and built the United States of America.
An Eagle Scout, Tim spent his life striving to embody the twelve tenets of the Scout Law. A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. These values guided his life and earned him the respect of family, friends and colleagues alike. Those who knew him could always count on Tim to be the first to help and the last to leave.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Judith; his children Tim (Ildi), Kelly Frank (Ralph), Kathy Weppner (Dennis), John, and Michael (Dianne); eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister Janey Gibas, his brother Denis, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Timothy McAuliffe, Sr., an Irishman from County Cork, Ireland, and Sarah Jane McAuliffe, a gentle lady from Oregon; his sister Betty Pellegrino, and his brother Tommy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Tim on Thursday July 2, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Gregory the Great Church 200 St. Gregory Ct. Williamsville, NY. Please assemble at the church.
