We will miss you, Bill. How we loved our vacations with you and Junie in Cape Cod or Naples, Florida! You and Don were always so happy when you found a place for a good fish fry.

We remember your kind and humane method of getting rid of pesky squirrels in your apple tree and vegetable garden. You set cages around the yard, and when occupied you drove the cage away from your neighborhood and released it in a park where it could live a new, happy life. We called it your Squirrel Relocation Program.

You are a heavenly saint now, Bill, and rather than praying for you, we will begin praying to you. Thank you for much love and wonderful memories!

Tom, Pat and the rest of the family,

We had the pleasure to celebrate a few specials occasions with your Dad and have had nice conversations with him, I always thought of him as a kind, dedicated outstanding man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

We are very sorry we have to miss the service, I have an appointment in Rochester I can't reschedule. Be assured, we happy to have your Dad and the entire family touch our lives. God Bless You

Bill, you came into the Long family when I was a nine year old child. For nearly 60 years you were a kind, gentle, highly principled, and truly unflappable brother and mentor. Your deep and abiding faith was an inspiration to us all. When I was a goofy 17 year old student, and about to go to Europe for the summer, you taught me how to use your 35mm camera, and then allowed me to take it with me. Months later, when my slides were developed and I was putting on a show for the family, you quietly corrected me when I mixed up the names of all the buildings I had photographed in London. Always the encouraging teacher! Years later, when my parents were elderly and ailing, you were an invaluable help to Junie as she lovingly cared for them, often in your own home. I can still see the two of you struggling to get compression stockings onto Dad after his bypass surgery. There were many days when you patiently put up with the 'revolving door' of sisters-in-law dropping into your home unannounced to visit Mom or Dad. It has been a privilege in recent months for us to reciprocate a tiny bit in caring for you. My sister, always Mary to you, was truly blessed when you became her beloved husband, and that blessing extended to all of her siblings as well. We even received Sister Thomas Marie in the bargain! We are so grateful for your presence in our lives and will miss you dearly. ♥️ Micki

Bill was really my first history teacher. When I was quite young I had a book about the Civil War and whenever Bill came to visit I would ask him myriad questions about the topic. I'm sure that most of these questions were so elementary that he was really bored to tears. However, he patiently listened and answered in a way that taught me the fundamental importance of history.
I also learned that patience is a virtue.
