Cynthia,
We just heard of Allen's passing.  He always had a smile on his face and we will always remember the joy our neighbor had running his trains.  Our prayers are with you.

Just found out today about Allen - my condolences to his family. Allen was our neighbor in Arlington Heights. He was a good neighbor and friend. He had a wonderful hearty laugh - I can still hear it. He was warm, kind-hearted, considerate, sharing - and we were fortunate to have known him.

My childhood memories of growing up in Arlington Heights will always include my awesome neighbor Allen!  As someone else pointed out, he was always generous with his plants and his train rides!  My father just passed and while going through his things I found an old train set.  I was looking up Allen today because he was the first person who came to mind who may have an interest in it.  I was incredibly saddened to find this.  Allen was a great friend and neighbor and will surely be missed.  He will always be a part of my childhood memories.

Allen was a good neighbor and friend.  We have many fond memories of Allen as the next door neighbor always in the driveway or his yard.  He was especially good to our son and he was treated to many rides around the backyard on his train.  My son especially loved going through the hobo camp.
Allen was always there to lend a hand or a tool to help on any project.  He was always generous with the plants, flowers and trees that he grew.  Allen's memory will live on in the backyard of 1390 Wild Rose.  A few years ago, he gave us a maple sapling.  I planted it and it is now over 20 feet tall.

My lasting memory of Allen will be from last fall when we had a garage sale together.  Allen was out front wearing his beekeepers hat directing traffic and keeping order.  He even managed to sell a few items from his collection.
Cynthia, the Plaster family will miss Allen.  Our prayers are with you and Allen.

My memories of Allen are from the latter  70s and early 80s.   His love for the Lord, good music and video/audio were obvious.   I was in a music group, Living Water, when I first met Allen.   He helped us select a sound system for our group and took several of our group pictures.  He would travel many miles to be with us and provide any support he could give.  I remember evenings with him rewiring the lights on our motorhome, filming our performances, taking us to have real Chicago pizza, etc.    I remember clearly the time I was paged overhead at Ohare Airport by Allen as he knew I was flying through on business and he wanted to know how I was doing.     The last time I visited with him was when I called him and he told me he had married a wonderful woman, Cynthia.  I knew she must be wonderful to have gotten him to settle down.   When I received your email several weeks ago, Cynthia, about his illness, I was reminded of the many times that Allen brought happiness and practical help to me.    There are more memories than I can recount here.....

Dearest Cynthia, 
Your husband was a blessing to everyone. I was a good friend and he will be missed. Our God will comfort and strengthen you. I can still hear Allen's laugh!

Allen has been a special friend , with so much talent and goodness to share whereever God led him to be. His laughter will always be heard as he had such a humorous way of talking, and relating to people and showing the joyful side of circumstances. Many times we laughed and enjoyed his special passion of  a special "yogurt" treat. He left his prints of life within the beauty of his special gardening plants all of which were more than just a flower - they were tended  with such love and precise care from the seedling to the  magnificense of color and fragrance. We'll miss those fresh cuttings.  His love for trains could never be surpassed and we're sure God has a special track just for him. If you listen closely, you can hear that deep and wonderful laughter of Allen's. He loved the Lord and prayed right up to the end, his spirit was so alive throughout the entire journey. His love for his darling wife Cynthia, would speak volumes of praise for her as a friend and companion, unto death do they part; being reunited someday in presence of their Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Our love and blessings, as we hold Allen dear to our hearts.
