

Arnold Warren Hartz, 98, passed away on June 14, 2026 in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 26, 1927 to Harry and Sarah (nee Lefkofsky) Hartz, with the family eventually moving to Flint, Michigan.
Arnold was preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Patricia (nee Colish) Hartz; by his son, Steven L. Hartz; by his daughter-in-law, Wendy (nee Jacobs) Hartz; and by his sister, Marilyn (nee Hartz) Makrauer.
In 1945, at the age of 17, Arnold enlisted in the US Navy with his parents’ permission. His service allowed him to pursue his studies at dental school, which he did at the University of Michigan. Upon graduation in 1957, Arnold located his practice in Flint, Michigan where he became a highly respected dentist until his retirement in 2000. Arnold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who shared his love of fishing, flying and golf with his many dear friends, and his children and grandchildren.
Arnold was a storyteller extraordinaire, mixing his love of good humor with occasional accents that would put a smile on everyone’s face. He and Patricia enjoyed an active and social retirement together in Boynton Beach, Florida, where Arnold volunteered as a dentist for the West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System. Following Patricia’s death in 2022, Arnold relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina to live with his daughter Pamela, his son Steven and his daughter-in-law Patsy.
Arnold is survived by his son, Michael O. (Andrea Cohen) Hartz, his daughter, Pamela Hartz Yoelin, and his daughter-in-law, Patricia L. Hartz; by his grandchildren Eric (Robert Benninger) Hartz, Adam (Cameo) Hartz, Jacob (Tamima Wyszkowski) Hartz, Rebeccah (Ron Schrag) Hartz and Hannah (Dan Caron) Hartz; and by his great-grandchildren, Vivien Hartz, Boaz Hartz, Quinn Hartz, Yona Hartz, Micah Schrag and Nadav Hartz.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, 2026 10:00 AM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL 60091. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Administration in Wilmington, NC or in West Palm Beach, FL, or Skokie Valley Agudath Jacob Synagogue in Skokie, IL or Anshe Sholom B’nai Israel in Chicago, IL.
