Bernice Ruth Newman, 92, of Northbrook, IL, peacefully passed away on February 2, 2025. Bernice is the beloved wife of the late Louis Newman; loving mother of Sandi (Gil) Libert; cherished grandmother of Rochelle (Douglas) Sowa and the late Scott Newman Beyda; adoring great-grandmother of Olivia and Ethan Sowa; treasured daughter of the late Rubin, late Rebecca, and Late Minnie Israel; dear sister of the late Annette (late Seymour) Serling; and caring aunt of the late Susan Serling and Michael (Elaine) Serling. She will be greatly missed by many family and friends. Bernice was extremely kind. She always thought of others with a smile on her face, often described as one-of-a-kind.
Graveside service Thursday, February 6, 2:30PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Rd, Skokie, IL 60076. Service will be livestreamed. Shiva will follow the service until 7:30PM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL 60091. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association (alz.org), St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org), or Jewish National Fund to plant a tree in Israel (jnf.org).
