

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Bill spent part of his childhood in Ganges, Michigan, before returning to the Chicago area, where he built a long and meaningful life. Known as a successful businessman, he was admired for his sense of humor, devotion to family, and generosity of spirit. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bill was an avid tennis player and golfer who cherished time on the court and course with friends and loved ones, also donating his time to help coach handicap children learn golf and tennis. His warmth, wit, and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Diane Wilson and her husband Brian, and Nanette Sterling, and his beloved grandchildren, Clark Wilson and his wife Danielle and their daughter Wesley, Elle Phillip and her husband Jeffin and their son Jake, Reid Wilson, and Nini Sterling. He was a proud Uncle to, Linda Dekker, Matt Sterling, Jeffrey Sterling, Heidi Sterling and Audrey Sterling. He is also survived by his former wife, Rhoda Sterling. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marshall Sterling.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette, Illinois 60091.
Following the service, the family will host a Celebration of Life from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 1025 Greenleaf Ave., Wilmette, Illinois.
