My favorite memory of Clarice was before I even met her.   I had spoken to her on the phone, and was a little frightened  - she sounded like a very proper Northside woman, very polite  - but I feared she might not find me "up-to-snuff".  But then her son Eddie and I were out biking one night, and stopped by for a glass of water at her home.  She and Bernie were sleeping, but the minute I walked into her kitchen, I knew she was the most loving, kind and generous of women. And that was true.  Her intelligence, her laughter, her generosity - to this day, I will cherish the family dinners and Thanksgivings I was honored to share with her and her family.   Sending love to the entire Lifson extended family.  

I can still see Clarice at the antique store or working with my husband about an antique clock that needed fixing.  
She had a uniqueness about her that one never forgot.  
I truly wish I had gotten to know her better.  Hard to believe she is gone.  Best to the family, Carol Hirsch, Evanston (Roger is the one who repaired the clocks).
