My name is Roger Mandel.  Daniel and I were attending Cornwall Academy and were room mate in 1960.

Memories of Danny pop into mind at the oddest times—the way he lived life full speed forward. The clarity of his mind and the joy he took in his family. The way he cherished old south side memories and the songs of his youth. So many wonderful little things that made such a delightful friend.

This is Roger Mandel.  I attended Cornwall Academy from 1960 to 1961.  Did Danial attend Cornwall Academy located in Great Barrington, Mass?

Writing this is extremely difficult.  Danny meant  so much to Be-Be and me in so many ways .  You hear over and over again  how he gave so many people an opportunity,  but giving this street kid a chance to be part of WSCR changed our lives forever.  I looked at his as an older brother, and used to always joke with him about being  fellow public leaguers. I can't tell you how much losing him means. 

Our deepest condolences to Karen and the entire Lee family. 

Dear Karen, Sarna , Jessica and families,
Danny was very special to me.  He took a chance on hiring me to sell WXRT without any previous radio experience and by doing that changed the course of my life. 
He even continued to treat me wonderfully after I backed into his beloved red Ferrari!
I’m grateful that we kept in touch over the years and lunched when we could. 
He was a great man. May his memory be eternal.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Danny was an incredible person, leader and visionary.  He had a positive effect on so many people, me included.  My years at 4949 West Belmont were very special.   I will always have a fond place in my heart for Danny.   My thoughts are with you.

Karen, Sarna, and Jessica, Jennifer and I are so sorry Danny has passed. I in my prayers of blessings and health for Danny and his family during the last four years was periodically interrupted with great memories we had either during work or at conventions or many of the wonderful experiences my family had with Danny’s family at the IBMA conventions. At work business was serious with fun and respect. I often think about all the after work projects Danny and I did or try to do at he’s various houses in Chicago and Glenco. Danny is still in my heart as a great friend, boss, family man, gracious, generous and always  competitive even in fun. There is a special place in heaven for Danny ! Danny, Give young  Butch number 2 a hug for me when you settle in.

There is no single memory that I can write about the impact that Dan Lee had on my life and career. My memory is more holistic through many years at 4949 Belmont. He was instrumental in my travels there from a young disk jockey to a mature businessperson.

I can honestly say that without his input, I would not have achieved the success that I had in Radio. What's more, I certainly am not the only person who can say that. Many others were touched by his warm personality, love for his family and business acumen.
