Dimitri Katamanin

Dimitri “Dean” Katamanin, age 40, beloved husband of Melissa Mickelson, cherished son of Lena and the late Mikhail Katamanin, loving brother of Olivia (Niko Wasi) Katamanin, and the late Alan Katamanin. Treasured grandson of Galina Belova and Steven Birman. Dean was also a proud new dog dad to PJ, who brought him endless joy. Dean graduated from Highland Park High School before earning his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and later his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. A true entrepreneur at heart, he combined his love for aviation with his business acumen to build and run a successful jet company for nearly two decades. Beyond his professional achievements, Dean was driven by an endless sense of adventure and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He found joy in nature, hiking, skiing, tennis, water sports, dirt biking, and boating… always in pursuit of what he liked to call “fun-seeking.” Dean will be deeply missed by the countless lives he touched. He was the embodiment of love. Full of energy, warmth, and generosity. His adventurous spirit shone through everything he did, from skiing and beach days to spontaneous trips and unforgettable vacations. Dean lived life to its fullest, always finding joy in every moment big or small. He will be remembered for his boundless kindness, unwavering loyalty to family and friends, and his ability to be unapologetically and authentically himself. To know Dean was to love him, and to be loved by him was a gift beyond measure. He was, in every sense, one of the best people this world has ever known.

A funeral service for Dimitri will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL 60091. An interment will occur Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie, IL 60076.
