Son of Faye and Louis, and brother of Howard (Kooki), Don grew up in Highland Park and Glencoe, lived in downtown Chicago for many years, and then spent his last years as a Scottsdale, AZ resident.
He is survived by his loving children Lauren (Ian) and Jeff (Courtney), grandchildren Tara, Maxwell, and Alyssa, along with ex-wife Susan Finkelman.
Don was passionate about the stock market, exercise, and his alma mater, the University of Michigan. He was an avid reader and, once he got over his fear of flying, he loved to travel the world.
He loved potato chips, dried fruits, ice cream, and most every day had a venti black Starbucks coffee.
Don worked at the CBOE for many years and then started a successful business with his son, in which they bought, sold, and developed real estate, as well as engaged in private lending.
We want to thank his wonderful caregivers, Angela, Bo, Sharon, Elizabeth, and the amazing Cleo, who lovingly cared for him until the end.
May his memory forever be a blessing.
A funeral service will be held on August 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Boulevard, Wilmette, Illinois. Interment will immediately follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s honor can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, International Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
