Donald Alexander Ford Jr.

Donald Alexander Ford Jr. passed away peacefully on February 11, 2015. He was born September 19, 1948 to parents, Donald Ford Sr. (d. 1968) and Lois K. Ford Rhyne (d. 2012). Raised in Wilmette, Don graduated from New Trier East ’67 and Upper Iowa University in ‘71. Don was a state champion swimmer in high school and All-American in college. He was owner of Don Ford Ltd., a purveyor of sugar and ingredients to the food industry. His survivors include two sons, Donald Arthur Ford and James Alexander Ford, as well as siblings, Mary Ford Pulsifer, Richard Ford, Steven Ford and step-siblings, A.C. Rhyne, Margie Rhyne Cannity, and G. Trent Rhyne, children of stepfather, Arthur Rhyne (d. 2011). Don thrived in the company of others and made friends wherever he went. He loved his two sons and his family, enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and motorcycling. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette, 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Nature Conservancy, 8 S. Michigan Avenue., #900, Chicago, Illinois, 60603, will be appreciated.
