Just discovered today that Mrs. Irwin passed away.  I worked with her at Marshall Field's about 12 or so years ago. She was such a delight to work with.  Customers loved her.  If she weren't there when a customer came calling,  they would offer to come back when she  was scheduled again!  She was also a good friend. She called on holidays and sent cards on my birthday.  If she were traveling,  which she often did, she'd send pictures of her excursions. She often shared recipes with me.  She also always gave good advice on entertaining.  She always told me to set the table for my guest the night before,  and to be sure to iron the table linens - something I have not forgotten to this day!

She was the rockstar in our department,  especially after her appearance on the Oprah show (finding her a black toaster but not letting her buy it because she didn't have her credit card or ID).  Oprah was tickled. That was Dorothy. Always by the book.  

She was a proper lady, spirited, and wise.  She was adorable.   I will miss her.
