Edith Weber

June 28, 1928 – February 24, 2024
Obituary of Edith Weber
IN THE CARE OF

Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home

Edith J. Weber 95, passed away on February 24th, 2024. Born on June 28, 1928 in New York City to William and Sally Schulman, she lived most of her long, full life on the North Shore.

Edith will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a feisty personality and a sense of humor that was appreciated by all who met her. She tried to make everyone laugh. She loved to share stories and offered coffee and advice to anyone she met.

Edith was a loving and devoted wife of almost 70 years to the late David Weber. He was truly the love of her life, and the two were inseparable. They married on February 15, 1948, shortly after David’s separation from the United States Navy. She was the beloved mother to Laurie Summers (Roger), Michael Weber (Lisa) and the late Valerie Hurlbutt (Al). She was the cherished grandmother to Greg Hurlbutt (Liz), Carrie Summers, Travis Weber and Anna Weber; and great-grandmother to Chase, Wyatt, and Nora. Edith was preceded in death by her sister Evelyn Bandel (late Al).

Edith had many interests. She eagerly looked forward to hosting family get-togethers. She loved having family together and would cook for a week before each event. She also loved reading and knitting. She was proud of her afghans and loved giving them as gifts. She volunteered and taught Irish cable knitting at the library to anyone who was eager to learn. Edith had a life-long fondness for John Wayne, and probably watched every movie he starred in…multiple times.

Edith was a long-time dedicated employee of Lord & Taylor and Marshall Fields. She worked in many capacities including personal shopper. She had many repeat clients and was proud of the many awards she earned over the years. She also loved children, and often talked about her early years teaching preschool for the Glenview Park District.

Edith impacted many lives and will be missed by anyone who knew and loved her. Services are private.
