Ed was born on April 30, 1929 in Hersfeld, Germany. In 1938, Ed, with his parents and brother, fled Nazi Germany and came to the United States. They were forever grateful to their adopted country for saving their lives. Ed served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years Emmy, nee Magerle, his brother Fred (Shelley Nathan), sons Dr. Steven (Lisa), Rabbi Dr. Mark (Trish), grandchildren Ruth (Sarah), Josh (Joelle), Adam (Liv), Alex (Hannah) and Hannah, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Ed and Emmy enjoyed entertaining and celebrating holidays with their family and friends. Ed was in sales and management with Mutual of New York/AXA for over 50 years. Prior to suffering from Parkinson's and dementia, Ed was an avid reader and Bridge player. He loved classical music, opera, theater and travel. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Road in Skokie.
