
Elaine was born on November 24, 1918 in Cincinnati, OH and later the family moved to Terrace Park, just outside the Queen City.
In the early '30's, Elaine and the family moved east to Pittsburgh and she attended and graduated from P.C.W (Pennsylvania College for Women) which was previously known as Pennsylvania Female College and today is known as Chatham University.
At Chatham, Elaine was captain of the girl's basketball team and of her graduating class. Upon graduation, Elaine worked at U.S. Steel Company in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1941, Elaine met and subsequently married Thomas P. Anderson of Winnetka, IL and after WWII and Tom's Navy service, Elaine and Tom made Winnetka their permanent home.
In 1959, Tom and Elaine founded a global document technology company, Microseal Corporation, which today is known as Digital Check Corp. and is headquartered in Northbrook, IL. From the early 1940's Elaine and Tom made Chicago and the north shore their home.
Elaine served as a Microseal Director from 1975 - 1991 and on the boards of various Chicago based philanthropic organizations. Elaine and Tom were long time members of the Winnetka Congregational Church.
Elaine and Tom are now finally reunited, we hold them both close to our hearts.
Elaine is survived by her son, Tom Jr. and his wife, Pam, daughters Marjorie and Barbara and Jinny and her husband, Scott Cotherman.....and eleven (11) grandchildren, Thatcher, Grant, Matt, Thomas "Fitz", David, Elizabeth, Katherine, Luke, Stephanie Doug, and Angela and ten (10) grandchildren, Drew, Violet, Miles, Wells, Graham, Cole, Max, Augusta, Dylan and Everet.
A private family service is planned for later this Fall and, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Chicago ALS Association - Greater Chicago Chapter - on line or to 220 West Huron St, Chicago, Il 60654
