

Harriet K. Babbitt (née Klapman), age 103, of Evanston, beloved wife of the late Martin D. Babbitt; loving mother of the late Jeffrey (former spouse, the late Laurel Babbitt) and the late Cary Babbitt; adored grandmother of Traci (Dave) Kogan and David (Faith) Babbitt; dear sister of the late Jeanette (Harry) Flyer, the late Dorothy (Abe) Swerdlow, and the late Fanny (George) Honorof. She was the devoted great-grandmother of Max Kogan, Reese, Carmella, Avery, Emily and Leah Babbitt. Fond aunt of Nanci Maroney and many other nieces and nephews, and a cherished friend and cousin to many.
Harriet was a talented concert cellist who performed with the Evanston Symphony Orchestra and appeared as a guest cellist with the Deerfield Beach Symphony Orchestra in Florida as well as with other orchestras. Music was a lifelong passion and an important part of her life.
She loved entertaining and often welcomed family and friends into her home. Harriet was an avid reader and an astute bridge player who enjoyed lively games and conversation. Those who knew her well would also say she had a wonderfully stubborn streak that reflected her strength, independence, and determination throughout her long life.
Funeral service Wed, March 18, 2PM at Westlawn Cemetery mausoleum chapel, 7801 W Montrose Ave, Norridge, IL 60706. Shiva immediately following at Max and Benny's Restaurant located in Northbrook.
