Hortense Coplan

Hortense was born May 18, 1930, growing up in Hyde Park, Chicago. She was close to her parents and loved spending summers in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. She married Lewis and moved to Highland Park. Horty graduated from Washington University in 1952, and spent her time raising their three children. Living in Highland Park for 65 years, she had many dear lifelong friends. Horty was generous, good-humored, energetic, and never missed a chance to celebrate her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Chicago sports fan and loved to travel, visiting all 7 continents. She enjoyed the little things in life - fishing, swimming, and ice cream.

Horty died on June 25, 2024 and is preceded in death by her parents Justin and Emily; her husband of 70 years, Lewis; and son John Lewis.

She is survived by sons James (Laura), Richard (Karen), and Paul; grandmother to Joseph (fiancée Stephanie), Mitchell (fiancée Annabelle), Emily, Sophia, Jessica, Henry, Zachary, and Spencer.
