Howard S. Glick passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife, Anneliese (Nieman), to whom he was married for 62 years. He was the father of Rebecca (Glick) Cain, fatherin-law to Chip Cain, grandfather to Nathaniel Cain, great-grandfather to Darren Cain, and grandfather-in-law to Karly Anderson. Howard also appreciated time with his sisters-in-law, several nephews, and a niece.
Howard graduated from Chicago Lab and then attended Columbia University before taking over his father’s distribution business, Dunn Safety Products, where he worked until he retired. A lifelong learner and avid reader, he stayed active throughout his life. When not jogging or playing squash at the East Bank Club, sailing was another of his passions. He and his brother, Robert, first sailed with the Arrow fleet and later with the Dolphin fleet at Sheridan Shores Yacht Club, since the 1970s. When he couldn’t sail, Howard loved skiing and was especially proud of his 90+ ski club pin, which earned him free lift tickets in Colorado.
It was impossible not to like Howard. He was known for his adventurous spirit, generous nature, and good humor. He appreciated life's simple pleasures like listening to French chanson and trying new restaurants. He was full of energy and had a spark for life that easily drew people to him. Howard particularly loved traveling to France and Germany, where he spent summers with his extended family, Peter and Gisel Leismüller, savoring chilled wine.
A private funeral service has been held, and a celebration of life will be announced
