Ira Maremont Plonsker, 93, peacefully passed away on January 18, 2022. Born in Chicago on May 3, 1928, Ira grew up in Hyde Park, graduated from Purdue University with a degree in mechanical engineering, served in the Army, raised his family in Glencoe, and owned a manufacturing business for many years. Ira was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Esther (Maremont) Plonsker and his brother Harry and is survived by his former wife of fifty years Marcia Plonsker, his brother Harvey (Madeleine) Plonsker, his sons Michael, Richard (Pamela), Steven (Juliet), and James (Yelena), his grandchildren Matthew, Daniel, Andrew, Haley, Alexander, Jillian, Katherine, Scott, Kurtis, Markus, Johnathan, Alexis, Adyline and Zachary, and many extended family members. He loved his family, celebrated their successes, and handled life’s difficulties with dignity, good humor, and without complaint.
